Hello all. New here.

I will be moving soon. Would like to add detached garage to property located in southern NH. I am a carpenter by trade.

Open to metal or wood structure. Looking to get pad and structure up and pick at it from there. Would like it built if metal. thinking 30x30 12' ceilings.

Is this doable for $10k or under?

Thanks

Doing the work yourself? $10K 'might' just cover the material....excluding the foundation.....

My 20x25 garage cost me around $30K and I did most of the work.

I just finished a 24x40x8 all wood, all DIY. We are at about $15.50 sq/ft. Budget - hahaha - was 13.5.

I think you might want to build a pole barn. I have said it about a hundred times, but you can build the roof on the poles, and add the side walls and or pour the concrete later, if your budget is tight. Figure for 16 foot 6x6 PT posts spaced at 8', and trusses at 2' centers. That would be 16 posts. 16 trusses, 8 2x12x16', 36 2x4x16, 16 2x6x8' and about1100 sq ft of agricultural roofing, no wall girts and no walls. You will need two or three bags of concrete per pole minimum, and fasteners.

Why don't you price that out, and see how much you have left over for a pad and walls. Keep in mind that you may want to get the site graded, and may want to use a machine to help set trusses.

With one or two friends, you could have the roof on in two or three weekends.

I don't know of any way to get started cheaper.

In 2006, I had a basic 22x22 garage built for $11,400 and that included concrete, vinyl siding, a 16' overhead door, a service door and a sliding window.
