Chinese copy from Cyclo is told to be better, it's got speed variable from 0-3500rpm and ligther weigth.
(This is told by people that has both of these machines!)

Yes, you can tell by the plastic housing and other cheaper parts. 50 year old Cyclos are still running perfectly. They are manufactured with metal housings, gears, high quality bearings and can be rebuilt if needed. Call me in 50 years and see how well that one is working.

And, it is not a close copy, it is a rip-off. That happens when a company takes the time, effort and money to design and develop a product; and someone else (often in another country like China) simply steals their idea and work - and then reduces quality to lower the price.

Finally, if a person is bothered by the Cyclo's weight, maybe they should let their wife/girlfriend or the 12 year old down the street polish the car for them.

Isn't Cyclo patent now open after 50 years for 100% similar copy?

I bought a slightly used DeWalt DW849 polisher off Craigslist for $100 with pads and compounds and love it. It is monster and once understand how to use it and be mindful to catch the edge of the pad, the results are amazing. I use it for motorcycle tanks and parts.

I use a rotary, PC 7428. Its light weight, comfortable to hold for awhile, variable speed, soft start. I read a ton of reviews, and then went looking to see what I could find used.
I bought mine used off of CL for $50, came with a ton of pads and papers. First owner used it twice.

I've used the Makita's and the Dewalt's, you get very tired holding them fairly fast, they are heavy. At least that's the way it felt to me.

I buffed up a heavily Oxidized '34 motorhome in about 5 hours with the 7428. I got good at using it and I'm very happy with the way it performs.

Unless you want to spend a bunch of money, the PC's have a great following, and I can tell you I really like mine too.
