I recently acquired a 1/2 hp Craftsman "block grinder".

I plan to use it mostly for cleaning and polishing small motorcycle parts. Can you recommend a good vendor and perhaps some specific info on the best buffing wheels (sisal? sewn cotton) and wire wheels for this application?

Also I was wondering if there is some kind of electrical gizmo box that could be wired in to provide a dual speed motor control? ie 3600 or 1800 rpm.

For wire wheels the Forney Industrial Pro series have been great. Really strong nice metal. For a buffing wheel I use a 3M scotchbrite wheel, it has been amazing! Cleans up all kinds of metals with a nice shine and if you press into a bit takes care of burrs or sharp edges.
