This project should only be assembled with Buick wheels since any other wheel just wouldnt be as cool.

The way I designed these stands, if I ever decide to use the wheels, I can since they have not been modified. This was my first priority since I only have about 3 dozon of these wheels laying around......LOL

So here is my recipe (of course yours may vary).

2 big BUICK Ralley wheels
2 1994 Chevy half ton pick up rear axles
20 mag wheel lugnut washers (regular flat washers are too big around and thinner)
10 chrome lugnuts
2 underhoist stands missing their bases.

Instructions:
· Detail wheels as desired.
· Press lugstuds from axles and re-install in opposite direction.
· Axles should be turned down to the size of the stand’s pipe I.D. just enough (.25”) to give the pipe a "ledge" to sit on. if you dont turn them down, the pipe gets the axle "wedged" into it and probably isnt very safe since the pipe could split from downward force and split/fail.
· Chopsaw about 12 inches from axle. (otherwise the stand won’t be able to adjust all the way down)
· Push the pipe stand through wheelcap hole.
· Insert axle into pipe stand ( i wrapped a few layers of rubber tape around the cut end of the axle until it barely fit into the tube. then lubed it and slid the axle in to insure the axle stayed centered/straight as I did the next step.(maybe I was just lonely)
· Add a couple tack welds to keep the pipe and axle together.
· Due to the factory machining of the axle it will not seat flat against the back of the wheel so now you need to place 2 mag wheel lugnut washers over each stud then slip the studs through rim and install lugnuts.

I actually cut more off of my axles because I also shortened the stand’s pipes too. I had an overall shortness I wanted the stand to have when doing ball joints and front end work on my lift.

Nice job. I have a couple of axles left over from the 9" I built for the van... I may have to do this myself... Not saying I am all that lonely...

I like this, they look great! I would say I am going to do this but I would probably have to buy actual stands to get the top piece. great idea though I love shop equipment made of car parts.

these are actual stands. i got them for 30 bux each missing both bases and one of the top saddles.
there is a place in town that sells the saddle for 30 bux. i will probably make something instead that is more usefull with like a V or something.
