Like it says I want to build an outside closet for my compressor. The compressor is one of those 60 gal Campbell Hausfield's (inherited when my dad died) that is really noisy. I'm wondering since I will be putting the compressor in there how big it should be and I suppose I'll have to insulate it. I'm thinking of building it on the back side of my 16 x 22 detached gar, the VW garage. I'm thinking of the NW or NE corner of that garage. NE would be best for outlet wiring and everything.

Looking for suggestions for size and how much insulation. I live in Indianapolis, usually our winters are ok but this winter was horrendous. Thinking I could go with a 4" slab.

Any suggestions?

I built a 3 X 3 shed off the back of my garage. No insulatuion other than a piece of 1 inch foam board between the shed and garage wall I had left over from another project. I also have a 60 gal. compressor. Its been there for 5 years now with no issues. It has a wood floor off the ground. Its off the ground due to the grading, and the floor is level with the top of the foundation block. I set the compressor on some rubber pads and drilled a small hole under the center of the tank so when I drain it, it runs to the ground. I put the shed in the center of the garage back wall so I could run a short pipe thru the wall to a hose reel and the reel has enough hose to reach anywhere in the shop. I also put a fitting in the shed so I could air up inflatable rafts for the pool with out treking into the garage.
