What type of construction? Who is the builder? I live in TN and I contracted National Barn Co. to build my 30x60 pole building. They are delivering the materials next Friday.

Are you going to have a concrete slab in that? My builder required me to level the site before they put up the building. They then poured the slab after roof and walls were on.

I dont really have much more space for runoff of the slope to stay in required distance from field area,so i had it somewhat excavated to get built. Now I'm gonna have it formed, filled and poured to edge with a turndown in the concrete to hold in the fill. The form boards will be removed to leave a concrete wall on the outside.I know its not the best or cheapest way to do it but with the limited space I have its what will work.I hope

Thx Cletus,I'm just glad its getting built.Havent had a garage/shop since 1995 been using an old tobacco barn or carport for years,so I figured if a little headache/stress comes along with the build it will be worth it.

you see where my bike is currently parked. This place we just bought in Oct has a full length porch with a handy wheelchair ramp at the end-lol

Stump, if you don't mind me asking...what did they charge for that building? I'm thinking about building the same size pole barn at my place hopefully this year and trying to get an idea of what I need to come up with. I'm in Nashville, is why I ask.

Congrats on the building. I would love to have a garage that size. I'm just wondering, is the ground unlevel or is it the building that is not level? I'm also wondering how you are going to fix it. Good luck, I would love to have a building that size

its the ground thats not quite level:lol_hitti I have a kinda tight squeeze between septic/field line area and cant have a bunch of overflow dirt for build up,so I had a guy do what he could with just taking dirt from the high and putting to the low to get a start.I'm gonna have the bottom formed and fill the middle, then pour (what they call a turndown style pour-will create a "v" shape at the outer wall being about 8 inches thick at ground and prob 16 inches or more at the floor surface)doing it this way will be more concrete, but having a sloped backyard and tight area this is what I come up with.I've got a little room for overflow of fill but not much, may fill outside building a little, just to keep from needing so much concrete.:dunno:

Wow 5500 is a great price. Did that include the garage door? I just got a quote on a building in NJ and for 24x32x8 it was $8000 and that is with no insulation or windows.

I'm getting the overhead door from another company,I already had the windows builder supplied the entry door and insulation in the $5500 price.

Like this build! Very much what I've had in mind, but local contractors coming in around a price of $12,000. That's not going to happen. So, the best thing for me to do is build it!

Question, what type insulation are you going with?

The insulation is kinda like bubble wrap thats white on inside and silver foil on outside(metal side)

Is $12,000 for a 24x30? just for building or concrete also?I shopped around my area pretty good, there were other builders that were alot higher. You might find a good deal on a kit somewhere and find a local contractor thats kinda slow on business and cut you a deal.My labor to build it was $1585.00

$12,000 for just the built building, no slab. And that was the cheapest estimate...

Found a place about 2 1/2hrs up the road that sales the metal. Comes in rolls, and they form to length per order. Can get the complete outer skin, 26ga roof, 29ga sides, all trim for 1 garage door, 1 entrance and 6 windows, eves, corners, everything including all colored screws for around $2300. Looks like I'm going to be building myself.

Now, I need to find a set of plans for a 24x32x10 pole barn...

Thats a real good price for materials.Hard to believe the difference in prices for being one state away(if NC is correct)
