Hello my name is Derek.Me and my wife bought this house 5 years ago, when we were looking at buying, the house had to have a garage that was useable or a house that didn't have a garage at all so we could build one the way we wanted... we ended up building a garage.

when we bought the house it came with a play large playhouse so we needed to remove that to make way for the garage.

The fence needs to come out so we the driveway can extend all the way through.

after the fence was out of the way we could arrange for the digging to begin.

A 16' x 26' garage is a good size to start with. It will easily handle one vehicle and leave you some room to work on projects.

Looks like you have a good patch of lawn to build on. Room for future expansion if your hobbies grow.

Good luck and keep the pictures coming. We like pictures.

After the footings were in place we were able to assemble the 4 foot walls. we placed the steel 2 foot wide by 4 foot tall walls in place and got ready for concrete.

the town that we live in only permits such a size of garage depending on our lot, the building is a 16x26 building with a max height of 4.5m. We ended up going with 9.5 foot interior walls. we did scissor rafters to give us some added headroom. the garage door is a 12x8. we have a man door with 2 windows.

so we installed the floor we had a 5 inch pour and we used 6x6 rebar and we also put down a layer of poly under the floor to keep the moisture out of the shop on those humid days. its been a while and I keep forgetting to take pictures as we move along. we installed the door, its a fiberglass door. we are trimming the building out in white so instead of having 8 inches of concrete showing on the bottom we are going to wrap 2x8 with white aluminum to give it a nice clean look. the roof shingles went on we are using 3 tab architect shingles. (shakes)

well its been a busy week but we have had a chance to finish the roof and getting the soffit, facia and get all of the base aluminum capped. next week the siding arrives and we can start that then we will wait for the garage door arrival.

coming up.. we will be digging a 60 foot trench from the garage to the house to run electrical and gas lines. here is a sneak peak of the tube heater that ive purchased. its from infrasave which is made by schwank, its a 40,000 btu model its a 20 foot tube but it is compacted in a 10 foot unit. (u turn model)

Curious on the siding brake, did you rent it or buy your own, borrow, etc.? Just curious as I will need one in the future for a couple of days.

Hello for the bottom we wrapped a 2x8 in aluminum, it just finished it off instead of seeing the 8" of exposed concrete wall, we will then install the J channel and install trim

door 2x4
garage door 2x6
base 2x8

Hello, so we got the garage door installed, and we installed a side mount door opener by lift master. I really like the way that the door turned out.
