Its turning out nice! You're better off removing the dirt and building the garage into the hill rather then having to haul a bunch of dirt to the site. Very unique design.

I am sure it has been done before but this is the first garage I have seen with a drive in second story. Great looking place and garage.
Been a long time since I posted. It has been slow going on the garage, but I want to finish it off fully this summer.
Up in the attic I made a wood organizer. I will need to make a few more.
Then on the main level I finished putting up my ISO reused roof foam. I would never do that again. It is a mess to cut and there is foam and fiberglass dust everywhere. The money I saved buying it was used in my time to install it. But I now have a R-30 in the walls and R-40 in the ceiling. I started to put OSB over it and will paint it white. The stepped block takes forever to cut in and cover.

Nice work, it looks good.
Took 11 hours but my dad and I got the ceiling installed without a mistake! Not one hole out of place, never happens when I work. First full ceiling I ever installed. Bought the metal from an Amish guy for $1.60 a foot (3' wide). I did 24 sheets that were 15.5' long.
After the ceiling the next thing is lighting. After reading here for a long time I went with the Costco LED 4' lights. They were $30 each and I ordered 28 online. I have 103,600 lumens in my shop. That is 86 lumens per square foot! I love it. It is equal to 65 old school 100 watt bulbs.

Really nice job on the lighting! The lining the lights up with the garage door windows was a smart idea I like that!

That's a great build and a very nice place you have there.I see your dad was wearing head gear for putting up the tin on the ceiling... Didn't want another cut to the head???lol...

A few months back I got around to painting the inside. I did a red strip around the top area and grey for the rest. I choose this because it was returned paint at HD and 70% off. Not my favorite red, but it was cheap.
Then I had wood all over the floor and I was constantly moving it. So I build a wood/metal rack. I used 2x4 and 3/4" metal conduit. The conduit goes into 1" holes and sticks out 20". I could put all 175lbs of my weight on the pipe at 16" and it would not bend, it bent at 20" though. With 5 pipes per shelf I think it will be fine.
I made the top little shelf big enough to just hold 3 buckets. This will be metal cut offs and small bits that get lost easily.
It holds 8' long up top, 4x8 sheet goods in the back and 4x4 or smaller sheet goods on the front left.

This weekend I worked on making a workbench. I picked up the HF tool box for $339 on black Friday (haven't seen it that low in 4 years) and took the wheels and drawers out of it. Then built a workbench that will fit over it. Bench is 2'x8'.
I put paint on it to match. The top is 3/4 plywood. If it gets banged up too badly I will put another layer on it. The top is 39" from the floor. A nice height for my 6'4" frame. I hate to bend over on small tables.
I am glad I put up OSB as I wanted to add electric. It was simple to pull off a sheet and tap into the outlet near there and run some wire.
I then used 5 of these 1/2" concrete wedge anchors to hold it to the wall. Each is rated at 1,300lbs or something like that.
The electric will power a strip on the front eventually. The switch turns on the 2 four foot LED lights above it. All hardwired in.

Great build! I didn't seem to notice anything on your 2nd level flooring? What live load did you go with? It looks nice and substantial.

I installed a sink in 2017 that I found on the side of the road and used an old faucet I had from replacing a bathroom one.
Wife is terrified of snakes so my outside wood rack is off the ground by a foot to keep snakes out of it. It is also under my eves which are 2ft so almost no water gets on them.
Built a Harbor Freight storage tower to hold all the nuts and bolts I have.
Also made this from scrap wood laying around the shop. Holds 60 cans I think.

Love the build, and especially love the easy access to the attic for your lawnmower. Great idea!
After 5 years I finally hooked up my in floor heat. Bought $500 worth of plumbing fittings and got to work.
Put a tankless heater on the wall and hooked everything up with a "pumping away" setup where the pump is on the hot side.
Cleaned off the 3 workbenches when I was done and you can see the heater on the wall.
Propane company came out and hooked up two 100 gallon tanks. I am hoping this will last a season, but we will see.
Borrowed an infrared camera and took some awesome pictures after it was running for about 2 hours. Once it ran over night the floor leveled out at ~55 degrees.
The tankless unit takes cold air from outside to burn. The exhaust pipe is about 60 degrees and the unit is very quiet.

I have been absent for a few years but I see that you have pretty much got it done, looks great. I will soon start another build myself and appreciate some of your ideas used here.
