Hello all,
New to the thread.
Here is my garage project: I am planning on building a bike rack for my ever-expanding bike collection. I currently have 7 bikes that I need to get out of the way. I would like to build a rack in which the bikes hang vertically from the wheel. I have done this before from the ceiling joists, but my wife can't get them down, so I'd like to build something that hangs from the wall. My main concern is that I will be hanging quite a bit of weight from that wall. The bikes weigh between 20 and 40lbs and like I said, there are 7 of them. Would I be better off doing a cantilever design with diagonal supports? Or do I need to support it somehow to the floor? I also am wondering if it would be more advantageous to hang the bikes directly on the wall? Or, should I hang them off the shelf from the top? Any thoughts/ideas are welcome!
