I have been looking into water chillers and a lot seem to just be Goodman ac units with the evaporator in a water tank with a huge mark up. Am I missing something or could I build my own and save a lot of money?
I like this idea, I currently heat my home and garage with a hydronic source, and have no A/C. I could easily plumb in the chiller water into the existing heat exchanger in the forced air unit.
We have several water chillersat my work. Your assumption is correct, these are just a cooling coil running inside of a heat exchanger. The key that I can see is that the flow of water needs to be sufficient to keep the cooling coil from freezing up.
