I'd like to build a specialized computer lectern for my classroom, since all the ones I find are stupid expensive and/or not quite right. So, I'm turning to the garage journal for ideas, advise, and examples of similar things.

Here are the requirements:
-I need to be able to sit at it at a drafting-height chair.
-I'd like to put my legs/feet underneath/in it, so my knees aren't up against a wall.
-It needs to house a mid-tower computer
-It needs to hold/house one 24" widescreen monitor (non touch screen)
-It needs to hold a normal size keyboard and mouse

Here's what I'd like if possible:
- To house a laser printer within it, accessible from the side opposite the side I'd sit at.
- A drawer and/or cabinet to lock things in.
- Space to hold at least one 8.5x11 size paper to write on. Glass over the monitor?
-I somewhat hate keyboard/mouse trays. I've never found a desk with an acceptable one.
-Decent appearance

I have a CNC router to make parts for this if needed, but it will only do up to about 30x30 inches. I'm thinking Birch plywood might be a good material for this. I've never built furniture before, but given the other things I've built, this seems like something I could tackle.

What does the GJ think? Any ideas?

Lots of nice projects on there. Thanks for the link. I'm really more a metal guy, just dabbling in woodworking. Should I get and use a pocket jig for this project, or join pieces by a different means? I'm looking at hidden (secret) tenon joints for corners. Would that work fine? Only glue holds it?
