I am a newbie here. I am building a shop/garage, 16X24. I want to insulate the floor, under the concrete. I have located a source of recyled insulation, thanks to a forum member, Brad D.
My question is , can you just lay it down in the forum and pour the concrete on top of it or is it not this simple? I guess the forums would have to be a little higher to acount for the insulation. Is this the right section for this question.
Cheers Ron.

I poured my floor over 2" of High Density Polystyrene that is rated specifically to pour a concrete floor over. I don't know what sort of recycled insulation you are working with, but it will be a false economy to put in something that isn't designed for the application.

BTW...you should put in a plastic vapor barrier under the polystyrene, between it and the compacted base.

Yes I have a source of High Density Polystyrene. I can put a vapor barrier down.
I do not know what a frost wall is I will do a search.
I wanted to insulate the pad and then get to the walls and such at my own pace as I go along once the building is up. But I figured I had to get the cement pad done as of course it can;t be done later.
Thank you both for your help. Cheers Ron.
