I'm in the process of building a 30X42 garage with 9' ceilings and 2 windows, I was told by several people, you'd better get good lighting because this thing is dark.
Well I went and purchased 4 tube 4' long LED's sat them in the corner till I"m ready, well in the mean time I need light to complete the interior, so I went to Home Depot and purchased 4 of the basic light bulb fixtures temporarily, so I can see, then I looked for light bulbs that might work, well I found them, OMG, their fabalus, they light up my garage like it's daylight, I mean the kind of light you almost need sunglasses.
the brand is Cree 100W. daylight LED, 1600 lumens, 18w. the light will dim with most dimmers. In my opinion, it's the best thing since sliced bread for lighting issues.
I'm new here, but not new to LED's.:)

David....I hear ya.....

Some of the diehards think 4' tubes are the only way to go.

I installed 18 6" cans in the 1st floor of my garage....3 zones. Right now I have 23w (100w equiv) CFLS in them. Plenty of light. I've been waiting 5 years for some of the bulbs to burn out.....me thinks some of the negative comments about CFL life was greatly exaggerated....but when they do burn out, I'll be putting in LED's.

What I think is good about cans is the flexibility. Not only can I use different wattage's, but I also have flexibility in color.

And I don't have a shadow issue.
