Hello All -

I was just referred to this site from a fellow gearhead/vintager racer. After 25 years in my former digs (a 1909 craftsman home) which had a 15' x 20' model-T
garage, we moved to a larger property with room for my dream shop-garage. Our new home is a 1927 medeteranian style (stucco/tile design) positioned on 3/4 of an acre.
After interviewing a couple of architects, we found a small firm that specializes in period homes. Our goal is make the new building look as though it was built originally with the main house. My wife postponed her new kitchen and greenhouse (god love her) so I could have a big boys play house. She will be getting a pretty large artist studio on the second floor however.

The exterior and interior are pretty much planned but, I'm looking for input on cabinets and shelving and any other details to make things organized and function easer.

Here's the plans and a few pictures.

Dougy: sounds like an awesome plan and nice to hear you married the right gal too. there are so many cabinet and racking ideas on here your head will spin so once you read a thread and have any questions ask on that thread might get you better answers.

there are so many garage gallery threads they get lost pretty quickly unless you keep posting pictures and asking questions to keep them near the top. also put the link for a new thread in your signature and you might get a few members to see your thread while you are posting on theirs or other threads.

is the Avitar you picked of your actual garage you tore down or just something that looked like a dinosaur having lunch?

cheers and welcome

Hello all -

Wish I would have chronicled my project as well as some of members have. I've really enjoyed seeing some of the great projects posted. Between completing my garage/race shop, prepping a few cars, and the all important
honey-dos and garden projects, I've been slow to post the progress and my finished project. Period mediterranean style homes are a little rare in the Pacific Northwest and when my wife and I found this 1927 classic, it was an easy decision. We saw through the overgrown yard and dingy paint and started to transform it. New exterior paint and landscaping on the main house last summer with labor provided my husband and wife.

Our contractor started the garage last June and I took over in October completing all the interior and exterior finishes. Here's a few picture's:

Dougy: you don't post often, but when you do WOW those are some great pics.

congrats on getting the garage done and looks like you might be ready to do the kitchen or other house projects now if you haven't already.

feel free to post more on the forum on any number of great threads about tools, cars, garages and stuff.

your garage looks great and the cars are a bonus.
