Building a tool box

SO i really want/need a bigger tool box, a snapon one to be specific, this one to be specific

They list all the specs of all the drawers and everything on the site and in the flyers, they are only 16 gauge steel which i get for about $40 for a 4x8sheet. I am a very experienced fabricator, except i don't have a brake, and to buy one that would do 16 gauge is pricey

So i figure i will build the frame out of 1x1 square tubing, and get some heavy duty drawer slides here http://www.unitedgroupcommerce.com/TelescopicSlides.htm

I know it will cost some money but no where near the 10 grand that the one i want would cost

What do you guys think?

I think that if you're gonna have fun doing it, then go for it. Otherwise, either bite the bullet and get the Snap On one you want or save $8k and buy a Waterloo.

Back when this board was garagejunkies.com, there was a post by a guy that had built some AMAZING tool boxes and workbenches himself. I don't know if they're in the archives, but it would be worth the time to search.

it is hard to make same of snap on's boxes. but it can be found cheaper at ebay as problem is have to pick up or have to pay full or else.....

if you want do make a "toolbox" of your own way then do it...
