Hello, this is my first post her at GJ. I live in Sweden, my parents owns and run a pig farm and i work on the farm as a mechanic/handyman,So this is a tool cart i'am building right now. A got inspired by SO heavy duty tool cart

The toolbox is an China made 42" topp box and the frame is 30x30mm tubing, on top of it i'am 2" wood and 2mm sheet metal. Next week am building a big bottom drawer.

Great idea. I'm interested in seeing how you mount the top. The only thing I don't like so far is the lost space above the top drawer and below the top surface

Thanks. There is no lock on the drawers but when you push them in they "lock" in the slides, I think they works like HF boxes

I will mount the top in next week I keep you updated :)

First I though about having a top that opens but I know myself and it would just be filled with ****..

We need more pics of how you cut, folded, and welded the drawer.

I didn't cut and fold, I just welded the drawer, the cutting and folding part was done by a local company that I by the metal from.

I'm liking your use as a top box for the cart project, it allows the the cart to be shorter than if you used a bottom box, that leads for a nicer work height. Interested to see how the back storage area comes together.

Excellent job on the cart. Great job on using two sets of slides for your bottom drawer. I'm sure it will have some heavy things in it. Are you going to paint the two green drawers?

Looks absolutely great, any reason no one ever uses inflatable/solid dolly time tires for caster's? Are they too tall? I really love this cart, but wheeling it around over cords/hoses etc seems like it'd be tough. Also I may have missed it but what's the cost into the project so far?

Thanks.. Those slides are specified for about 176 lbs

I think I will keep the green :)

Thanks. Don't know about the dolly tires, but we have this casters on our bigger welding bench and it's actually easy to move around.
I think the cost for parts is somewhere between 650-700 $ and some hours.. And i know I can't buy anything this "heavy duty" for the same amount of money so i'am happy whit the result..

problem with inflated tires is the "bounce" the give when working on the bench they support. and you notice a bit of rock back and forth as they give and take with the weight/pounding/movement they absorb.

hard casters make it hard to roll over things true, but they support the weight they carry in a much more useful manner, and if running over things is a problem, just move the thing.

How did miss I this thread? Glad I saw it tonight! Great work 86! I've gotta admire a custom box, designed and built by the owner! You will be especially proud to use this box for years..form and function combined to suit your needs..awesome! I would keep the green drawers too, I think it gives it a nice character!

I tried that on a Beach roller cabinet that I use as a tool cart and didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I found it to be a bit unstable and basically too "soft". I switched to 6" nylon casters and am much happier.

Nice job Ekman86. I'm enjoying this build!
