I am new to this site but I would appreciate any advice on my planned build. I live in North East Florida and wish to build either a 30'X40' or a 40'X40' metal building for my toys. I would like to know if anyone would recomend a contractor to build it and what metal building would you guys recomend and who to STAY AWAY FROM...I have had terrible luck with contractors. What I want is very simple but I need to get a quote for my budgeting. It seams that I could get a building from several manufactures/brokers. They call me all the time, trying to "Lock in a Deal". Future plans, after I pay this one off, is to enlarge the garage to a final size of 40' deep by 60' wide. I would appreciate any suggestions and pictures. Thanks

Robert

Try to find a local metal building contractor. If I understand correctly you want to make the new building larger at some point. If that is correct then you want to make sure the company quotes an expandable building. You can make any metal building bigger but it will save you money later if the building is built now with the idea of expansion.

That's a good point I will keep that in mind. Does anyone have a suggestions on which metal building manufacture is better than others?

Clearly and Morton are pole buildings. He is looking for metal. As I mentioned before look for a metal building contractor. They will rep one or more building companies and be responsible for the product.

my suggestion to you is the contractor that will anser the phone and show up everytime. here in the midwest they are all happy to give you quotes ect.. when show time starts spring-fall. you will become a contractor hater. my advice to you is to not be understanding. theres always a excuse with them and if they dont show up the first time call someone else.

Likely in your area of Florida, you'll need construction to meet hurricane or wind specifications.

I'd do drive-around and see what neighbors have for their buildings. See a nice one, then stop and "talk shop" about who built it, cost, specs, etc. You're certain to get useful information specific to your area, along with helpful hints of what NOT to do, so you don't make same mistakes/problems that may have happened on their build.

Once you've tracked down couple quality builders. Get them both to quote so they compete against each other . . . but apples-to-apples. Good luck.
