Lowes sells an instructional video (for around $5) that covers the basics of building with glass blocks. They also have all of the materials needed to do the job. I compared them with a local glass block contractor and the cost savings was significant! Good luck with your project.

This isn't actually a "bar", but when I needed an office counter/desk, I used glass block with a slab of granite 12" wide on the top. The back side is my desk, which is regular formica countertop hung off brackets that were mortared into one course of block. Bill
