The surgery went well and I'm back home tonight. After sleeping off the juice they pumped in me, I'm back at the computer to let you all know that I'm good. A little back pain but no leg pain. So with a little rest and maybe a puzzle to work I should be back up and running again soon

Kidding aside, glad the surgery went well and you're feeling less pain.
Nice to hear it went well Don! Sounds like a Laminectomy for some sciatic nerve issues. I've had two surgeries and they were a smashing success. Follow boss Ann's orders Sir! Mend quickly please, we very much appreciate your adventures in the shop, but will patiently wait for updates.

Good news Don, be well...those things can wait, healing can't. Maybe take up crocheting as a side hobby...something where you rest while doing it.
The good news is that I'm finally back out in my garage the bad news is It only takes about 4 hours and I'm worn out.
I started getting the base to the ARO grease gun display ready for paint along with the support bars that hold the grease guns
A little degreasing, a little bondo, some primer and some sanding then more primer all before sanding for paint Tomorrow

glad you're back in the shop, Don. Time is a healer , you'll get your stamina back . you'll probably have better days, and not so good days , kind of like a roller coaster. hang in there. We need to see your projects!

Great to see you attempting some garage time after a serious surgery. Like the others are suggesting, take your time. This will take weeks or maybe even a month or more to heal to the point where you have a full day of stamina to offer. Ya ain't as young as ya once were, and the body (with age) just takes more time to heal. We're all happy to see you back at it though. Cheers!
found a little time to push the grease gun display rack closer to the finish line today. I'm painting the gun bars two tone and today I got the second color on them.
Also I've been working on the El Camino . The garnish moldings needed to be altered to fit both the 70 El Camino and the 59 dash so I had to cut each of them down the center and reshape them by adding a section between the 2 sides and re welding them to fit both sides. I got all 4 pieces remade and primed over the weekend.
I'm trying to get the interior ready for paint

FINALLY!!!! Yesterday on Motor Trend TV, I finally got to DVR, The Lord of the Hoards (Slam) episode of " Lords of the Zephyr"!!!! The build of your 1937 Zephyr from 2015. It was pretty cool to see how it was back then, before the circle driveway was paved. Watching the interactions ... the show info describes as "a demanding millionaire and his wife" and knowing you from your threads here on the GJ made me laugh and is curiously interesting, for this Midwesterner. We had some similar shows here in the Midwest like Garage Squad and met a few of the guys from that show at a car show my wife vended at with her car care product business.
Loved the garage scenes...open the garage door and everything was lit up and shining! The Chevies, Chris Craft, working on the primed 58 vette, the ice cream shop, the elevator up to the poker table! What a LEAP of faith you took with allowing that show to refurbish your diamond in the rough!!! Curious if you would do it all again?

The surgery was a great help. I'm feeling fine. I haven't spent much time out in my shop these past couple of weeks because My good friend "Pat" who lived up in the barn was failing badly so Ann and I spent several days in the hospital while Pat was passing. He finally let go on last Tuesday evening.
I now have the task of dealing with A L L of Pat's collections. Most of the good stuff is already in the BPG but he had a lot of nice stuff up in the barn with him So I'm finding places to put that before hitting the storage containers, the wood shop and the barn garage.

He was in most of the late westerns like Tom Horn with Steve Mcqueen. He was also Hook with Robin Williams Just to name a few
He never missed a Dodger home game when Johnny Bench and Pete Rose came to town. He said they always went hunting and bar hopping when it town.
He owned a deep sea treasure hunting company and would spend his summers on the ocean finding sunken ships. A friend asked him one day while we were working in the garage If Pat had ever found any Spanish deblume? Pat reached into his pocket and pulled out 3 of them and asked "do you mean these and chuckled. He showed me a picture of him going down to the Titanic and also a picture of his hunting ship along with his 12 man crew. I also have a picture of an old cannon that he pulled out of the ocean along with gold and silver bars. He said that Disney would buy every cannon that he would find
He never passed up a yard sale, an auction or swap meet and now all that stuff is here in my containers, BPG, and the barn
This will be a huge project sorting and dissolving this stuff.
I'll keep you posted along the way
