All of your events always look well organized and fun, this one looks extra incredible! I love the public-private partnership, of citizens and the armed forces supporting each other. It’s touching. Well done!

Best wishes to your wife as she heals.

Don it is great to see the Big Party Garage as a part of the celebration of Christmas for a great cause. The generosity you show by sharing your BPG and the collection of American history has to be a highlight for those who visit. Thanks to you and Ann the Hot Rod enthusiasts get to share your love of history with their gifts for the kids.

Thank you guys
The party was a huge success and everyone had a good time. No one wanted to leave . Thats a good indicator that the party will be remembered for a while. The Army bringing out the horse patrol was a nice touch and they were very grateful for the many toys and bikes that were given in the spirit of Christmas!!

It is raining very hard here today and the floor of the party garage is getting flooded with water coming in under the roll up doors.
So Tomorrow we will be pushing water all morning. I think I may try vacuuming up some of it too.

Looks like French drain in front of your door made it to top of your to do list. Sorry it’s (flooding) happening and hope none of your cool items get damaged.

There is a drain out back but the water came in from the rear of the building where there is a sidewalk and gravel that needs to be sealed up. When I made it out to the garage after my nursing chores My helper had the water all pushed out and I just mopped up the small puddles that were left.

I finally got the chance to play in my shop today so I put the second color on my Shell can.

IMG_6365.JPG
After the paint set up a bit I striped the masking off and after the paint cures it will get some black strippes painted on it.

IMG_6370.JPG

Then I went to work on the alemite handy cart that I started a couple months ago.
It has been primed, blocked and reprimed so today I fine sanded the base and the top of the body and sprayed metallic silver on them.

Another good day working out in the shop. since I am waiting on paint to cure enough to retape I went to work on cleaning up the grease guns that will be hanging on the handy cart. These came with the cart and I've collected a couple more to go with them

I found another one like the first one but it was covered in grease and grime so that's the one I chose to start with.

The handle hasn't been cleaned yet, giving you an idea of how grimmy this gun was.
After staring at the pieces and cleaning the barrel of the gun, I decided to do a polish job on the gun.

Here is where I left off tonight.

I was excited to find that some of the fittings are made of brass and they are about 1/2 shined up so far.

Don

Just curious, do you have a sign that goes on the top of that Alemite grease cart? or you making one? or does one even go there?

Nice job by the way! This is the first cart that I have seen like this one, what's the rest of the color scheme going to be?

Wow Don, I am in awe of what all you have added since my last checking in probably 2-3 years ago. The western town is amazing, I need to go back and check it out more. The Christmas party looks to have taken a lot of organization and came out funtastic it appears. Hope Ann is on the mend and y'all have a Merry Christmas.

I Must say Don, you can spray a good red like none other! Very nice.
Thank you Zippy
Black is my favorite color to spray because you can see how it is going on with each pass of the gun. Red is my second favorite

Looking good Don, can't wait to see it finished.
Thanks Kev
I'm trying to get it done this week
That looks great Don!, Should be very cool with the gun color choice.
Thanks Y'sguy
The guns are the hard part of this project.
I am making some headway

Wow. I'm new here but this is a tremendous buildout. I'm lost in admiration and reverie....like the ending of Ratatouille. Fantastic build, Don. Just....really shows all of the love and care you put into it....like something you'd see at Universal Studios or something. I also really like those Memory Care facilities with the fake towns....similar feel except yours is far more functional.

I love stuff like this. I come from the video game world and have pitched games like this...set in various times such as the 50s/60s, with the premise being you have to make your way as if you just traveled back in time. But Don, you've done that and it boggles the mind.

I also love the idea that you're showcasing your collectibles in various buildings, and that vintage signage...it's glorious. Some of those logos bring back floods of memories....which also happens for me when I see Googie architecture which is still popular in Anaheim around Disneyland, or it was when I was a kid (I'm 53).

Anyway neighbor, just wanted to give you the biggest hearty congratulations and a round of applause. Bravo!

Working more on the handy cart yesterday. I've managed to get one gun polished up and painted (well almost)
and I worked on getting the sign letters made. I also painted the cart inners black so It wont show when looking at the cart.

Here is the mock up for the sign from the sign guy

It's been raining here All day so I brought a couple of projects into the house to work on while helping Ann get her things done.

The grease gun is ready for paint again. This time all of the pieces are ready

2021-12-23 18.20.49 - Copy.jpg

I had also finished the Shell oil can but didn't like how it turned out so I took the decal off of it, masked off what I want to save and started sanding the can over again.

Before.
