Ok guys I'm finally back from the deep with no internet for the last 3 weeks.
We had to change providers after AT&T jacked us around promising to have us back up in a day or 2 back on April 11th. 10 promise dates later we gave up and went with a satellite company and had my brother drive down from northern Cal. to install it tonite.

I'm sooo far behind on everyone's threads it will take some time to get caught back up.
My projects are still going strong and will post up soon.

I was able to attend the Gas Bash again this year, Ann said they were having internet woes. Hopefully Don will be back posting soon.
The Gas Bash was great!
It was nice seeing you and your wife at the gas bash again this year. Sorry that I was too busy to spend much time with you guys catching up.
I didn't even have time to take any pictures to post here but as you saw the place was packed with signs, pumps and people. Everyone had a good time i'm told. Also the diner and ice cream parlor were very much enjoyed (the food was great)

We had to be up at 2a Friday to catch our flight down. When we were ready to leave the Gas Bash Jan got some pulled pork sandwiches from diner to take back to the hotel ( we were exhausted) they were great!
I told a friend from Oregon about the Gas Bash last year, he wanted to go. He's a picker and drove down. I met him out front Saturday morning, it was great because he could haul my treasures back! No more trying haul back on the plane!

The Gas Bash looked even bigger and better this year, lots of signs and pumps! I met Model A Ed and had a nice visit he even sold me one of the traffic lights you and Roy picked up!

Looking forward to next year!
Ps love the progress on the western town!

Hi Don and Ann,
Good to see you on here again! Hope you are well. Vanley and I just got back from a tour to the Snowy Mountains here in NSW and we visited the Cooma Car Museum. I will post some photos for you to enjoy later. Not a patch on Don's Garage though!
Cheers Daviod and Vanley

Did you get the broken base on the phone booth welded, Don?
No Dude
One better. Because the break was about 4 inches from the corners I was able to drill and bolt a plate behind the base.
A little bondo and the break will go away

The only real damage is at the top corners where the other panels bolt to the base. I think that the other bolts will hold the panels in place

Yesterday afternoon I loaded up the Zephyr and headed out to Escondido for a car show (Cruising Grand) It's about 75 miles from here so I chose to trailer the car there.

2022-05-06 12.49.37 - Copy.jpg

I got there plenty early to get a good parking place, but when I tried to unload the car something under the car snagged on the bottom x bar. It took about an hour of working on it to get the car free, Lucky we were leaving the truck in the Lowes parking lot about a mile from the show so we had everything we needed to work with to get the car free.
We managed to get to the show and find a good spot to park where the sun could show off the paint job

At the end of the evening they had the 4 winners of the show line up in front of the crowd and here are the winners

Then I drove the car home because of the problems with the trailer. My brother and his son were with me so I had him drive the truck home

Those are are some interesting steps on the COE.

I love your Zephyr, glad to see it is out and about. When I first saw the photo of it on the trailer, I was hoping I was not about to read an “I just sold the Zephyr” post! Congrats on the win!

^ That Lincoln is just too pretty, Don. ;)

Sorry to hear about the trailer troubles. Hope it didn't rain on the way home!

Thanks Fourcycle
Trailer was a challenge but no rain

That was a very nice C.O.E. with some nice mods

Thank you H.B
No worries about that car going away
Nice Zephyr. Congratulations on the win. All four winners were superb. Sorry to hear about the trailer problem. Did you figure out what was hanging so close to the x bar?

Thanks 53
The problem under the car is the cover for the electric emergency brake hit bottom when loading the car and coming back down it caught and bent straight down meaning that we had to lift the front of the car 4 inches higher to get past the bent plate. It was in the center of the car so I couldn't reach it to bend it back.
Drove it home! That is cool in itself, plus a win at the show….well done Don!
Yes it was a great nite Zippy
I got a plaque and gained a boatload of confidence in the car
Nice collection of winners. You might need to move the COE up the priority list. Be a cool car hauler.
I agree Shorty thanks
The COE will make going to car shows much easier
The Zypher is gorgeous. Co.grats on the win.
Thanks Uncle willie
I'm starting to get used to the color. ALL the women at the show loved the color.
One old lady asked me if I were married LOL
Cool Don what kind of award did they give you?

Kev
They gave out these

Kudos on driving that beauty home. Hopefully you didn't have to fight any Friday night traffic. I’m excited cruising grand is still going strong after 20 plus years.

I agree with Bear that the zephyr doesn’t like trailers so maybe it needs its own trailer or for you and Ann to drive it to the shows.

Congrats on the win!!

Chairs look awesome and looks like your new sign guy is a keeper. Phone booth is coming along nicely and nice fix on the break.

Were you too busy being a host as the gash bash or did you find some cool things to keep at the party garage? Sounds like it was a success!!

Glad to hear your internet is working again cause pretty quiet around here without you.

Boy oh boy is it good to see you back and see those projects again. Great win at the show, and I agree with Shorty, you would look good pulling in with the zephyr on the back of a coe.
If I were looking for a project today it would be a coe.

Don congrats on the car show win and the lettering on those chairs is awesome, especially
the Shell chairs. Is that actually hand painted? They look 3 dimensional. Great job!

That's called a "drop shadow" - you use a "quill" or a "truck lettering brush" for that sort of work.
About a week ago, while searching for some widget in the garage, I discovered my sign painting brushes that I'd lost about 25 years ago.
(The newspaper the pan was wrapped up in is dated 1995.) I'll have to get them cleaned up in order to be able to use them.
The "quill" is barely visible - it's the real skinny one under the others. The "truck lettering brushes" are the ones with the long hairs.
The long-handled units with the stubby bristles are called a "fitch" or a "sash brush".
Good man with the right tools can do magic. ;)

Damn, i did not see your car there but I did see your trailer parked on 2nd. Must have just offloaded it when I came by, thought to myself what an interesting car trailer with the posts at all four corners. Doesn't look like you can put two on top, does it double as a lift?

What's the deal with that structure on the car trailer? It looks almost like you have a 4 post lift built on top?

I'll try to save Don a moment. He bought that trailer a while back (close to a decade) because it indeed can carry two vehicles at once. Here's the post:

For some reason, the photo in that post is still visible (to me) while the majority are in Tinypic Hell.

I've been following Don's Big Party Garage since the beginning, guess I missed that post. Bob, you're amazing!

P.S. photo is still available on my computer too.
