I love how you built that bench. If you ever decided to swap bottom boxes is there is enough room to get the current one out? I like it like that just curious thats all.

I am running it there... I don't think heat will be a issue though... And one day when I upgrade it won't fit there I want a 50-60 gallon

if you ever run out of room in the garage, you can always park your car on your new bench!! that's one sturdy mofo. I like the layout, what's with the propane tank ?

Lol the reason I have so much bracing in the shelf is because I was only using 3/8 plywood. I didn't want the shelf to droop. But the reason the propane tank is there, I just wanted to make sure it fit.

Nice work man.

It may be your first bench, but not your first framing job. That's one stout frame, especially the base since it's on a concrete floor.

Since I've BTDT, let me suggest to add doors to keep all the **** from getting on the shelves when you are working on the bench.

You just found this site? All your sockets are arranged neatly in the top of the toolbox. You will fit in here with this group with no problem.

Pretty sturdy workbench. Where are you mounting your vise?

Is this an attached or detached garage?

Yup just found it :) im going to mount the vise on the right side above my air compressor I'm going to put a couple more 2x4s under the top to reinforce the top so I don't break it. And it's a detached garage. Just a one car garage but it gets the job done ImageUploadedByTapatalk1408409797.695351.jpg

No the top is actually melamine is supposed to be heat and scratch resistant. I like is so far

I like the black too! Did you buy the melamine already attached to the backer or glue it down yourself?

The ONLY thing about it for me would be I can be messy and if I spilled paint on it I'd be pissed off! So maybe someone like me would be better off with black painted plywood!

It was already attached... It came in a 4x8 sheet it was about $36 a sheet though. And it is chemical resistant also so you can put paint thinner on it if you needed to!

Excellent!

I assume you can cut it easily enough with a table saw or. Skil without chipping the edge? I'd probably cut through masking tape to make sure but I really like it.

I didn't even use masking tape all I did is cut it upside down with a skill saw. Both sides have melamine on them. The only thing that was hard is making a line so if you ever get it make sure you get a silver sharpie too.
