This is my First posts, but I have been reading for weeks, wish i had found this site sooner.
I live in southwestern Ontario.
Here's what i have decided to build, I liked the look of this detached garage worked well with the space I have.

Changed the size to fit my needs (I know never big enough)
length 30'
Width 24'
Walls 10'
Roof 6/12 pitch
Garage Doors 2 9'x8'
Man door 34"
Window 3’x3'

Foundation 4’ frost wall
Started this project on Nov 25/10 will start posting a few pics of the progress so far.

I had to trim a few trees in the back yard, nothing to serious.
The excavator moved in and started the excavation for the footings and frost wall.
I Was out of town working that week sorry no pics of that.
This is what it looked like when I returned home.

I ended up with 5’ walls due to elevation change in the ground.
Building inspector was checking to make sure there was 4’ of frost wall under ground.

Once it passed inspection the backfill crew moved in.

It’s too late in the year to pour the pad with the below freezing temperatures.
I Plan on getting the shell up with some temp heat to pour the floor.

Hey fellow Canadian!Looking goog:thumbup:I hope you were able to shingle before the Sarnia blow. With the roof being done,at least the rest of the inside can be worked on .It's gonna be cold though, but by putting up some tarps over the openings, you will be amazed at how warm it can get with a propane heater going.Just watch that you don't gas yourself!Best of luck!!

Hello Nastyzen
We started the shingles on Sunday, Dec 11/10 took one person sweeping the snow off steady
For the guys banging the shingles on, we had to call it quits the snow squalls got to bad, never mind skidding off the roof. (gotta love our winters)
Update the roof was finished Monday and the tyvek wrap is on, I used it to close the garage door openings, will be back at it this weekend.
