Sorry dude. Bump.

Trying to resist the urge to get a new box.....

Brother, you're gonna need a new box for all the new tools you need after buying that furd

You’re in charge of deprogramming this time around.
Damn it man, why couldn't you drive a Ford - that'd make a comeback soooo much easier.

@Bigblue&Goldie, I think you have already justified a new box, or boxes. Did you sell those gen1 HF44s?

At least on a Ford an average guy can maintain and repair, where as that other brand's electrical and transmission gremlins are beyond hand tools. 😛

Not yet, I will probably list them when the time comes. I'm indecisive, but you know my garage is stuffed, and I'm tired of working out of so many boxes.

My daughter got a fingernail painting set for Christmas, so she can repair any damaged nails for our "other make" friends when their done pulling their transmissions.

Well after close to a decade it might be time to finally finish up this project. Ya know, I hate to rush into anything

I've always meant to install some upper cabinets. The issue that's stopped me is finding ones that were the perfect fit width wise. With this thing finishing out at 126.5", she's an oddball. I thought of all kinds of ways of making your typical 24" or 28"W cabinets fit with fillers or end panels or ??. So none of it ever set right with me. Plus all those cabinets have been 12" deep which don't fit certain blow mold cases I want to store in them.

Now with me moving shops I decided I should do this before I move all my fab stuff out of my shop in phoenix so once placed, everything goes away with a one and done otherwise I'll probably never get to it. Also I'm really making an effort at reducing my footprint and this will help a bit.....I hope.

Well today I came across these cheapies that are within a 1/2" of perfect for the width and deep enough for what I wanted. Oh sure, they're your typical thin gauge bolt together **** but I can work with that.

So I'm ready to order but stuck on a color selection. Depot has these color combo's for sale right now. Wayfair has the all blue cabinet which not knowing how well it matches mine, I really don't feel like doing a complete spray job but I'm fine with just doing the doors. Plus if I order from Depot, it shouldn't be that much drama to deal with a damaged delivery.

With that said, the case color becomes my quagmire. The blue door with the gray case, ya I can paint my support system that color but getting a perfect match might be a PITA. OR I can get the gray door / black case and paint my support system black. The back splash will be aluminum diamond plate pegboard BTW - why - cause I already have it :D

Anyhow, I'd appreciate some input on making a color choice. Whatta ya'll think? and thanks!

I like the gray cabinets with blue doors.
I’m ok with those too. But it’ll trigger a ocd attack if I can’t match that color for the support rack. Doing a satin black then repainting the doors mitigates a potential breakdown me thinks.

I get your line of thinking. However, I avoid black in the shop since it absorbs light. I prefer a more reflective color for anything that's above a work area. This becomes more important as we get older and our eyes require more light.

I'm 100% with you on the blue doors. The blue Lista bench looks great and matching blue doors on the cabinets will make a great looking workstation.

Ya I finally got a temp deal 5 miles from the house that made sense. Now if I could find some time to move the big stuff, life would be good.

Btw, the wife and are heading out your way in September. Some really close friends of ours bought their retirement setup in Conroe and the wife wants to see the area.

This past year traveling thru Idaho, Montana and the black hills she saw several shouses and was asking me a bunch of questions. I told her if you want to she what can be done, we gotta go see my buddy Duke

I hope you and the family are doing well. We sure do miss your antics here.

Well I thought this was funny so I figured I’d share.

I left four of these in my depot shopping cart which showed a 36% discount at that time. The wife and I took off for a few hours and I just placed the order. Now it shows I got a 44% discount.

That’s a first for me with depot, Zoro yes but never depot. Maybe I should have waited another couple days 🤣

Well I picked up my uppers today.

Nothing says quality quite like cabinets that come in a flat box..especially one that weighed maybe and I do mean maybe 20lbs 🙄

IMG_7405.jpeg

The packaging was actually impressive. Every square inch protected with no room to spare. Plus it came with its own assembly tool (that’s tool as in singular).

Assembly was an absolute breeze and I’m not kidding either. Since this thing is slot and tab with a grand total of 28 screws keeping it from falling apart (that’s literally btw, it fell apart twice before I caught on to not follow the instruction of when you screw it off). It took 15 minutes from taking the picture of the boxes in my bed to this one. And I’m pretty sure it took me longer making trips to the trashcan with packing material than assembling.

IMG_7414.jpeg

I didn’t bother with the front cover or shelves. I wanted to confirm the measurements and mounting so I could continue planning the support system (which will now be more involved that I wanted it to be since these could fold up like a tin can if you push your luck).

What is impressive is the measurements were spot on. The only one that was slightly off was square across the back and that was only 1/16” out. I’m gonna make this work just fine and not spend a couple grand doing it.

Btw, I’m dead certain the only reason it is so square was the use of these “two” front lower corner brackets. An engineering marvel I tells ya 🤗
