Built a spin screed

Pieced this together for an upcoming pour, Uses a milwaukee super hawg that I had bought a few years ago with this specific use in mind.

I haven't been around a spin screed, is this considered better or worse than vibratory type screeds, and easier or harder to use?

That's cool. How long is the screed and how much does the bar weigh? Think it'll be heavy enough to do its thing?.

we had one that had a lawnmower engine on a hydraulic pump and then a hydraulic motor spun the tube, filled with water for weight

Its said to be better as it doesn't bring as much cream to the top, or settle the stones down deeper, rather it just rolls stuff ahead of itself. You run it in the opposite direction as you pull it, so it's pulling concrete up on the front side, rather than vibrating it down.

I bought a 20 foot piece of 4" aluminum for this job. But with the ends removable, you can size whatever pipe you need. You can add sand or water inside them (depending how water tight you make it) if you require more weight.

Lots of videos on youtube of them, they are fast and work well for large flat work.

The concrete contractor we use has a hydraulic powered one with a range of tubes up to about 12m.
You still need guys to rake excess concrete away from them, they will only push so much, but they do work well.

I'll be using a rollerbug afterwards on the stuff I need to pour, as I need a rough finish. But otherwise no, it has a vibratory motion to it somewhat anyways, since they aren't perfectly balanced.
