I made a post a week or so ago about ideas for a work bench.Well I finally had time this weekend to build one.Its still not done yet theres a few more things I wanna do to it yet.Its 24 deep by 60 long by 40 high.I used the casters from the bottom of my husky box for the work bench. The only materials I had to buy was 2 2x4's for the legs.I like it and it just about the right height for me.Still need to get my vise mounted but that will have to wait until its finished.

That looks great! I may have to steal your idea!

Go for it! My other plans for it are to add pegboard to the ends for more storage space and then finish triming it out.I have a freind who can get me a piece of stainless steel at a good price so I may put a stainless work surface on it.After I get it finished I am going to paint it black to match the boxes.

Nice job. Always funny to see a computer on the work bench. What would grand dad say to that?!

I used to have the computer in the house and would draw/design something or find an electrical schematic and print them and drag them out to the shop.

That changed to using an old laptop and keeping it in the garage and printing something if I needed to.

Then I brought my ipad out to the shop and just take it to the car/project and read directly from the ipad.

My father would flip over the idea, and my grandfather would shake his head in awe.

Nice rolling work bench. I think I'm going to build one...thanks for the suggestions.

That's a great idea. I have basically the same box, but a Craftsman. I use it for my shooting and hunting related stuff, and keep it on a separate wall from my "mechanical" box. Wonderful idea. I'll be stealing this one.

My grandpa would flip his lid.He told me one time "If you need a computer to work on a car you need to buy an older car". Sometimes I think he was right.I have a pontiac vibe I am working on now that is a freaking headache. But then again it is nice having a laptop right on the bench and not having to run in and out of the house to look something up.

My grandfather wouldn't understand the need for a computer, but my uncle would have. He got into electronics in the Navy during WWII and was involved in radar and computers in their infancy. When he passed away my cousin pulled dozens of old computers out of his house - PCs from the very beginning to the newest (in 1996 or 1997, I don't exactly remember). He used to travel a lot and got his newspapers on something called the "internet" (at that time I had NEVER heard of it, he had internet access as soon as it was available!).
