I need to test hundreds of 18650 cell batteries. Sure I can test one at a time with any number of testers out there but that's taking too long. Anybody aware of a system that would support testing multiple batteries at the same time?

I have an old Skil 1/4 inch ratchet that wasn't charging. Opening it revealed two 18650 cells that read 0.15 volts. Can these be revived or am I out of luck. Thanks.

If they can't be revived, they could certainly be replaced. No reason to give up on the tool.

I would replace them. Bringing back cells from that low of a voltage can be risky, especially what sound like older ones. If you really want to try then do it outside and be prepared to deal with a fire.

Yes....but there are too many fake cells out there. I thought there might be a tried and true method to bringing up the voltage so that the oem charger can recognize and charge again.

If they were around 1 volt I would say go for it. But as low as they are it’s not worth the risk. You can buy from illumn.com or liionwholesale.com and trust that your getting legit batteries. You don’t need high performance cells. Anything they sell should have plenty of output for a screwdriver.

There are a lot of folks on YouTube "harvesting" 18650 cells from used (or sometime unused) electronic equipment. To "do it right", they discharge them, charge them and then do a "load/capacity" test, usually in small batches !

You might call up Cadex and ask if they have suggestions.

They are one of the stronger players in the battery test market. My old employer used them. At the time we were one of the worlds largest mfrs of li-ion battery packs.

I've got 4 contacts. One or all of them should have options and a solution. Call each one and speak to them:

https://www.evwest.com/
http://evtv.me/
http://www.manzanitamicro.com/
https://www.cafeelectric.com/

Or ask on one of these email lists:

http://evtech.org/

To add to these links, DIY powerwall guys have some good resources for battery reuse.

The DIY ebike community is also pretty plugged in on reclaiming used cells. I’ve seen pictures of pretty large test rigs out there.

I want to thank everyone again. I hate wasting money.....but after gaining some knowledge here.....I decided to buy some newer more powerful cells. The original cells were LG 1100mAh 10c yellow jacket. How many amps are 10c ?

I bought some 25A 2600mAh oem ones from a reputable seller. They will be delivered tomorrow. I plan on soldering the old tabs and bought some quality flux. I have a 40W soldering iron.

Since high school.. I had been soldering without flux.

1'c' is the amperage the cell can provide for exactly 1 hour. Thus a 1c discharge rate of an 1100 mAh cell is 1.1amps. 10c would be 11A.

Thank you Citation. Learning more everyday. All because of a dead battery in an old power wrench. My old cells were from 2007.
