Bulk pick-up night find

I always like taking the dog for a walk on the evening before bulk pick-up in our neighborhood. My neighbors throw out plenty of really nice stuff that winds up back in my garage.

So as I was out walking tonight, I scored this:

It's a Dyson DC25. They run ~$340 on amazon. I don't know anything about them other than they're expensive. I plugged it in and it seems to run just fine.

It looks like it's missing the bin and cyclone assembly. I can order those parts from Dyson for about $95. Do any of you guys know anything about these and can confirm that's what's missing?

I suspect that the part broke and they decided to throw it out instead of fixing it. Doesn't make any sense to me but maybe they were looking for an excuse to buy a newer/better model? Either way I figure I'll fix it up and keep it or maybe sell it on Craigslist.

Not sure I would want to use someone else's vacumm in my home. I have that vacum and I also have the yellow top and a few hand helds. Dyson is a great machine.

I figure I'll take it all apart and clean the hell out of it with some water and bleach (and replace the filters). That's what I did with a dog travel crate that one of my neighbors threw out a while back. We've used it for trips and it's been great.

Hopefully it wasn't some lonely single guy using the hose for some self loving.

Seriously though, I don't even like having to disassemble my own vacuum because it's kinda gross. Somebody else's dirt is even worse. That said, my wife had to have one too. It works good but has been sent off for warranty 3 times.

They probably got tired of sending it back for warranty. That's where I am with mine. The same hose (internal) is broken again. I have to send it back every 6 months or so and I'm so tired of it. Next stop is the trash.

Oh yeah, BTW don't use your wife's $600 Dyson to clean up drywall dust after yourself because you were too lazy to get out the shop vac. Neither the vacuum nor the wife appreciated that move at all.
