One thing you'll want to keep an eye on is if the steel used to make the wool is stainless or carbon. Carbon will definitely rust in short order if you have any moisture or humidity in your area.

One possible (long shot) alternative - see if there are any CNC machine shops in your area that regularly turn stainless parts. The chip balls often resemble coarse steel wool and they might be willing to let you have it at scrap value.

Thanks for the tip.

If you expose it to the weather. What I do is put in coarse steel wool VERY loosely (fluff it up a bit). Then stick the nozzle of your can of spray foam up into the steel wool, and blow the foam through the steel wool, so it encapsulates it.

Rlitman suggestion of foam in the steel wool would work but Great stuff makes it in a Green can that is pest proof, it is so bitter the pests won't eat it.

Reviews on Amazon are less than stellar.

Joe - Just want to make sure you are aware of "Rat Guard". ledge trim that the sheets set on ?

Even if the walls are sheeted, may not be too late to install this... just loosen bottom row of screws and slip this under, re screw.

Well, the sheets should be sitting on it... you can see from the photos.

I'm lookin at the bottom of your sheets close to ground level, at the Mud Girt.. sure looks like they did put in Rat Guard... not tar paper strips... But I'm not there so I dunno.

Like I said.. NOT too late to put it in.

I think it is just boric acid added to the foam. Basically, the same thing they add to the orange foam to make it more fire resistant. So my understanding is that the green can is just another way to market a product to more people.

I really don't think that insects care for the foam anyway, so I doubt it makes much of a difference either way.
