My new garage sits 100 feet from my house. I have an ADT burgler alarm system inside my house, but I would like to put in a system that will run from my garage to my house. I am thinking about asking ADT if I can run something into my house system. I don't think a remote will work because of the distance. But I am also thinking about running a separate alarm system into my house. Do any of you have burgler alarm systems in a detached garage? What kind do you have? Thanks........j willis

I have my detached garage connected to my house security system. I put in a buried conduit between the two buildings and let the security company do the rest, they installed the various devices, ran the wire through the conduit and made connections. There are switches on the doors and windows, a couple heat detectors (not smoke detectors, they can get fooled from car exhaust or dust from working on things), a LOUD siren and a keypad.

Mine was originally a Brinks system .... the company was Broadview and now is owned by ADT. I originally had it just in the house. When I built my garage, they installed a "split" system, It works off of the house system but has a separate keypad and horn in the garage.

I ran conduit for the security system and my data/phone lines when I built the garage.
