Today I got a new restoration project. It's a Burke No 1 sensitive drillpress, line shaft driven. Looks to be all there except for a fork device near the bottom step pulley. Not sure if that was a belt guide or some sort of belt shifting lever. This is going to be fun. Right now I am spraying it down with pb blaster each day.1000003297.jpg1000003296.jpg

Very nice. I saw one similar to that at an estate sale but it was really and truly frozen solid beyond practical restoration. Have fun!

That drillpress is a beauty. It will look fantastic when finished. Mister Pete 222 showed a similar sensitive drillpress by Walker Turner on his channel, today.
Several years ago I bought an engraving machine from a retired engraver and he tossed in an Alfred Meuhlmatt sensitive drillpress. I found it interesting with your drill having BURKE livery.
I have a BURKE vice.

The motor I used is a very old GEE washing machine motor. It was designed to hang under the washer. I flipped the motor over while keeping the oilers serviceable. Just for fun, I turned a new pulley with the option of 3 speeds. The pulley grooves are narrow to accommodate a Singer Sewing Machine round belt. I am looking for a chuck. This DP has a tiny Morse Taper quill.
