Burying Sump Pump Discharge

I have a co-worker that built on a slow spring of some kind, his sump runs 20 of the 24 hr day,, year around. He routinely replaces the main sump and backup every 10-12mths. He drained it into the storm drain that runs in his subdivision

^ ^ ^ Sounds like that guy should use the "problem" for some Geo-Thermal cooling since he's pumping all that water anyway !!
