I've been busy the last two days moving stuff around my shop (reason to be revealed in another thread soon). When it came time to move Uncle Max, a 12" Mini-Max jointer/planer, I set up my HF 2ton Shop crane. Unfortunately, I came in from the long bed end, rather than the short bed, and managed to shear/pull the rubber plug that is smack dab in the middle of the ram. The pictures show the hole that the plug was in....

I have not noticed any problems yet, BUT, I have also not lowered the arm all the way. What is the purpose of this plug, and if I need to replace it, where can I find a replacement?

That is the oil fill hole. You just need something that will seal the hole and not come out when under pressure. Do not lower the ram without a plug. Ask me how I know.....
