I lost a bookmark for a new "Made in USA" site I found a couple months ago. It was set up like forums instead of having lists of products people couple post about items they find.

Anyone know the site I'm thinking about?

I can't honestly believe this. They are probably touting GM, Chrysler and Fords as American, right? The Camry is more made in America than the Fusion or Charger.

And the F150 and Malibu are more American than the Prius. Get that COO import defense outta here. Domestics still build far more cars in the US than the imports do. A few Camrys or Sonatas don't change that.

I cannot comment beyond this. Don't be naïve enough to think that they are truly American.

Well...we are talking American manufactured products...definitely a shrinking pool of products...give us a couple more years and there won't be anything to discuss!

Someone should start a forum on all the different ways "warranty" can be misspelt...

OP asks about a forum and a COO debate ensues?

<sound of knuckles cracking> As a wise man once said: "It's clobberin' time!"

It's for the same reason that people complain when anyone brings HF up in a thread. American jobs, blah blah blah. Sorry, the previous administrations in Washington allowed the rampant outsourcing to get to its current state. I know it is all blamed on the current administration, but that isn't the facts. Everyone touts Ford and GM as American cars, but you have to read the fine print. That is why.

"Administration"? "Washington"? This sounds political! The lady was just asking about how to find a forum! :willy_nil

Bull, COO was brought up for these types of reasons. Not to sound political, but that is why it always comes up.

That is all I was saying.

So the response to something that has caused COUNTLESS political discussions, here and elsewhere, should have just been:

Use Google?

EDIT: Actually the way I read the question was "What is the name of x forum" rather, then how to find it.

You also have to consider where the car is designed and engineered and where the profits are going.

Since these types of discussions have been countless, and fruitless, it seems to me that the best idea would be to avoid them entirely, especially when the OP wasn't looking for one.

First post is this?

Where are the workers paid is a better barometer ;)

Anywho, I hope the OP found their forum before I f*d up the works.

Most GM vehicles are designed and engineered oversea.

All Saturns are engineered in Europe by Opel
All current/future Buicks are designed/engineered in Europe/China by Opel/SAIC
Camero/GTO/G8 are engineered in Australia by Holden
Cruze and Aveo are engineered in South Korea by Daewoo
Malibu/G6/Solstice are engineered in Europe by Opel/Vauxhal
Cadillac Catera is engineered in Europe by Opel
And many others since GM just re-brand these vehicles.

GM also use engines and transmissions from Europe and Japan.

If you increase your knowledge of auto manufacturing just a little bit more you will be merely misinformed.

Just because you read that something was engineered elsewhere doesn't mean squat. Penning a design for a car is but a tiny part of the manufacturing process. Detroit is chock full of companies that take that design and engineer and manufacture components, but according to geniuses such as yourself nothing is designed or made in the U.S. so we might as well close up shop now.

No idea about the rest of the cars, companies and countries above, but the GTO was definitely designed and built in Australia by Holden... well, until they close it anyway.

GM still engineer Cadillac and trucks in the US, but future compact truck (Colorado) will likely be engineered in Brazil. I believe Ford new compact truck is engineered in Thailand now. The Honda Accord is now engineered, fabricated, and assembled in America.
