I got a lesson yesterday in just HOW different stuff is here VS there...
Everything here is modular. You buy the sockets, the mounts for them, the face plate it attaches to, and the box. They all press together and click. I went to take a schuko socket out of it's mount and replace the faceplate, I put the screwdriver in the wrong "click point" and instead of rremoving the socket, I opened it up.
Now, in the US, you open a socket, you have 3, maybe 4 pieces that all go back together in a logical order. This thing presented me with a handful of small and unwieldly pieces that apparently not only go together in one and only one way, but need the assistance of an anti-gravity unit.
I effed with it for a bit, and realized my time was worth more to me than futzing with this damned near impossible to assemble POS (I mean, it HAS to be possible, right??) for an hour or 2...
Fortunately I had a spare I didn't pop apart, but still... damn...
