Ive been looking to buy a Snap on tool box for a while now.. I'm looking at the KRL7022 series, I do like the KRL1022 with the extra height and drawers.

So, Ive been taking to my SO dealer.. but hes not much of a salesman. I asked for used.. nothing. How to get a good deal on a box, got a quote for a KRL7022 in silver brand new for $5500, he has at home(new is $7600). I have nothing worth trading. He says buying used from someone thats not a dealer is a not a good idea.. since the box could be warrantied out, not paid for, hot, etc. He told me he sells used similar box for $3500. Which is not much more that what they go for on craigslist around here. I told him, I wanted red.. to go with my cart. He said, he'll look at home to see if he has one. :headscrat

Anyway.. he'll probably have nothing to offer me when I see him next week(or remember). I was thinking.. what if I was able to call other dealers in my area or the city over ? I'd rather buy used.. a good box is a good box right ?

Anyone have advice on how to find a good deal, or get a good deal ? Hows the pricing I mentioned sound ? is the KRL1022 worth the extra bucks.. harder to find used ?

Used boxes are exempt from warranty technically but Snap-On CSR and dealers can and have overlooked this in the past. Buying a box with a lien on it can be a concern but its also kind of up to you and your morals. Technically a box re-sold to you without knowing it had an lien is not going to be worth it for a dealer to repo, and illegal for them to just walk in and take. I cant remember what its called, its not a lien with a paper trail like a car, its implied or something to that effect. Its easier for the dealer to just go after the initial owner for the remainder as opposed to involving a third party (you).

You can buy from another dealer, just be aware that they cant come to your dealers territory and they should remain ignorant to the fact that you have a dealer.

Also worth mentioning is they get far better deals if they attend shows and there can also be promos if you've been a long term customer and also if you pay through Snap-On credit (assuming you have cash in hand or can pay off in the grace period there is no downside here). They run incentives a few times a year like $500 off a tool box.

Yeah you have 90 days to pay it off with no interest and sometimes there are deals to be hand through this.

There is also the rocknrollcab express that you might be able to get with and see what they want- some report good deals others say not so much so just depends

I traded In a craftsman double stack for almost $4k. Rock n roll supposedly can do the same deals you're dealer does. Mine dealer gave me the same day as the truck, if not a little better

With no trade in, I could have got a 68 with power top, hutch, and light for 10k. A 84 was 11k for the same thing.

Rocknrollcab makes the same deals as your dealer. If you have a dealer that sticks to list the cab sticks to list. The only benefit to the cab is they generally waive customization fees.

If you want a good deal, you're going to need some patience. Either to wait for the right used box to come along, or wait for your dealer to come down on price. Co-worker got a brand new krl1023 with bedlined top for $5200. Traded in a small, beat to death craftsman stack. If your dealer is hungry, or the rock n roll truck comes along, you should be able to get a 1022 in the 4k range.

Man, I would love a 1022 in the $4k range !!

I think I saw the rock n roll truck once over a year ago or something like that.

I got a killer deal on my snapon cart when there was another snapon guy on the truck with my dealer.. and I wanted a quote on a cart. I dont know who he was.. but, he flipped out his lil flipper phone, made some calls, and got me a cart another dealer had in stock to my dealer to me. I dont know what that was all about, but probably why he has the nice snapon leather jacket and clothing to wear.

Might have been like his district manager riding along with him. I've only met ours once- he was training up the new guy that took over our route.

That isn't a good price, my dealer had two 7022's, Royal and midnight blue, my buddy bought the midnight for 3700 bucks brand new. They were boxes that weren't selling, dealer had got them from his rep or another dealer

I bought my 7022 on some type of special 2 years ago. Had the choice of red, black, blue, or orange. $3,000. If you wait the deals are out there. It's on the toolbox thread somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

Wait for the dealer to hit his slow point. Usually January and February in the car business. Then they will be more likely to make a deal they aren't selling as much in these months. I bought my 68 epiq for about 6k because I was only approved for 7k financing. Get them when they are slow and get approved and they will make a deal.

I got my KRL1023 a few years ago for $4,000 and my dealer threw in the cart too. Thats not including the hutch and locker, those came later.

THe real deals aren't in the flyers. It's the deals the dealer makes. The only thing with paying attention to is when they run the double rebates. That does help.

I believe around March is when snap on offers credit bonuses and usually you can have your dealer ask the dm he can usually get a better deal too

Just grabbed a used 1023 off craigslist. I love it. Love the master series boxes. Wish I did it years ago.
Keep asking him and keep watching for a used one. Good deals pop up all the time

Are you set on Snap-On? You could get a pretty nice Stor-loc cabinet for your price range. Full choice of drawer layout and depths, all rated at 400lbs, and a 55 year warranty.

It was a great buy!! I actually have it decently organized right now, sometime or another I'll either update the thread or start a new one after I give the thing a fresh coat of wax and wipe my tools down. I only do that once a year and it's getting close :lol_hitti . But keep pestering and asking, you can get deals when you catch him at the right time if your SO man is any count.

I talked to my so guy again today. I told him I wanted a 1022 instead of a 7022. He said he had a new black one, and priced it at $6000 for me. I asked about the so credit rebate. Said if I spend $6500 I get $1000 off. So I got a quote for the box and SS top for $6650. That'll make it $5665 for the box with the SS top. How's that sound ? I wanted a red one, and asked if he could trade the black one for a red on. How can I get the price lower ?

That's not a bad deal at all for that type of box. Superbec, Snap On ain't cheap but if you use your tools every day professionally the box is nice to have.

For reference, I bought a KRL 1022 with stainless top from our industrial rep about 8 years ago. With tax, freight, etc., it came out to an almost even $5k. I think you're in the ballpark considering the difference in time. I was getting about $40-45% off with our discount.

You are spending a decent amount of money. Don't settle on a color. Demand a color.

WAY too much money. If it was a brand new KR1000 it would be worth it, but these new KRL boxes are being made with much thinner steel. I have one and if I had it to do over again, I would've saved up some cash and found a KR series box somewhere. Either that or a MAC.

Just wait 'till there's a deal you are comfortable with and buy it.

My SO guy had a nice special edition KRL box on his truck for months. I needed a new box, but didn't want to spend the kind money he was selling it for. He asked me if I wanted it and I said "not for xxxxx", but he hinted around that he needed to get it sold....Every week he dropped the price a hundred bucks...eventually he got a number I was okay with and we unloaded it into the shop.

I buy and sell a lot of boxes. Snap on double bay, 29" deep will sell for between $2K and $3K depending on condition. Triple bay deep will go for $2.5K to $4k again depending on condition.

The prices people ask on CL are hardly ever attained. And someone who has gotten out of the business and has sat on his box for a while will come down. I normally send folks an email especially if the box has been listed for a while. If they call I ask the standard condition questions and why the are selling etc. I normally don't negotiate over the phone but arrange a time to see the box. Key is to show up with cash and a way to haul the box then and there. I look over the box, point out the good and bad and politely make my offer. They either say yes, no or counter. Most times I offer what i think it is worth on the wholesale market and rarely come up much.

Just got this one the other week, full of tools. Haven't cleaned it yet but it is late model with the mag wheels and bed liner top. Dusty, has been sitting for a year or so.

Take a deep breath......Take a few minutes and consider this box, I think you'll be surprised at the quality and value. $1995.00 including side cabinet delivered / $1695.00 without side cabinet

Close up review:

organization video:

Buy them here: http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/tool-vault-tool-boxes/tool-box-size/56-tool-boxes.html

They have 72" models: http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/al...ll-72-inch-toolboxes.html?source=nav-dropdown

That box is only 20" deep. If I buy another one I may get one for home, but this Is hard to complain about.. Deep drawers are awesome

All I can say is, get what you want and don't forget, you get what you pay for. If its cheaper, it's "cheaper". Thats on new stuff, you might get a good deal on a used one.

Their 72" boxes are 24" and 30" deep

That's at least $2500 on the tool vault line. I paid about double with tax power top and a bunch of free stuff. Plus better resale obviously. Seems like a wash to me.

No one pays msrp. I paid less than half of a 12,700 msrp lol
