Buying a Toolbox, Tekton?

Long story short moved sold my tool box due to storage constraints. Going back to wrenching after my break and need to buy another, I like the grip latch system cornwell, montezuma and tekton have. I also like the full width drawers of the tekton but the abundance of shallow drawers is useless to me. Any idea if deeper drawers could be ordered or retrofitted? I emailed them but haven't heard back yet.

Man that was the exact reason for not going with a used truck box for me. Most have 3" deep or deeper drawers, which for most of my stuff means half the volume is wasted. So I went with US General 26" cabinets which I'll stack. I wish there were more shallow drawers in the others.

Sorry, Tekton doesn't offer individual drawers for retrofitting, nor can you rearrange the drawer order. I feel this along with not offering a work surface top, is a weakness. However, I really like my Tekton cart and some of the other perks like free liftgate delivery, quick in stock shipping, no sales tax, and 10% reward points back offset the other issues.

Bummer, thanks fedwrench. Welp wife found a cornwell box on craigslist near me that isn't ridiculously priced so I guess I'm off to check it out.

Used truck brand way to go if can make effort find decent condition @ sensible price, best money you can spend as potentially no depreciation .

Agreed but for some reason everyone right now is asking almost new prices for their boxes. Between HF dropping their prices and local prices being sky high or beat to... makes the Icon boxes competitive, what a weird economy we live in now.

If you want something you can configure, you should look at Lista boxes. I suspect their technician boxes are like their industrial ones and you can move drawers around to your liking.

How deep do you actually want the drawers to be??

I've come to the same conclusion all full width and fairly deep is the best option for me too, maybe 3" deep for the shallowest ones??

Not a fan of the conventional double bank tool truck roll cab layouts to be honest, I do like the look of the Tekton
boxes but maybe too many 2" drawers??

I really like the lista boxes and their prices are very competitive at American Workspaces compared to the trucks but right now I'm trying to hit the $2k mark.

Yeah i had a blackhawk bottom roller, all the drawers were 4 inches deep and it was great. So i prefer to stick to that depth. The icon boxes extra drawers are very reasonable to swap out the shallow ones.

Mr B
Yeah right now they have a 20% off coupon through March so it'd be $1800 for the bottom. Apparently my closest store cant keep any in stock and the regulars that bought them rave about their Icons so?

the rousseau configuration is similar to what ICON should of done for drawer layout .
Would of put them massively ahead of the game for the price point .

Just an FYI if you like the Tekton box design but not the layout ordering the same size box from Rousseau, the only difference in price from tekton in my quote was the shipping, about $300

Are you Canadian? My shipping quote from Rousseau was 700 which supposedly included a discount. That is the only thing that stopped me from ordering one.

I built one on that site and the sales dept. followed up immediately even though I didn't request a quote. They seem eager.

When is your order getting delivered? :)

Not soon enough, I've already got 3 tool boxes at home, I need to sell my Homak box (My other two boxes mean a bit to me, so they stay) and then I'll pull the trigger. I don't spend much time in the garage at home as I bring most everything to work to work on if able, but I don't see myself being here or wrenching forever, so I'll need a much much larger box at home eventually. Well...I need a larger box at home already. Between power tools and miscellaneous **** in my boxes at home they're almost full. If I where to move all my work tools home I might need to go for a much bigger box, think I spec'd out a 54", need to up my game!
