Has anyone purchased bulk oil in those mini barrels, I think the 30 gallons size...

Looking for the mobil 1 5W-20, I have 4 cars and a v10 that uses it, trying to see if it worth it, the last time I got a sale on the mobil 1 it was 4.99 qt and they only had 4 cases of the 5w-20, cleaned out the store...

The walmarts in my area don't carry the 5w-20 in the big bottles yet...

I'm not sure about other sources, but I know AMSoil sells it in the following configurations:

1-Quart Bottle
1-Quart Bottles (case of 12)
1-Gallon Bottle
1-Gallon Bottles (case of 4)
2.5-Gallon Bottle
2.5-Gallon Bottles (case of 2)
30-Gallon Drum
55-Gallon Drum

You do get a decent break in price for the larger drums, but wow, it's a bit of shock to the wallet at the onset price for the average user and can be a PITA to store.

I maintain 4 vehicles and am seriously considering moving to the 30gal drums -- I use AMSoil 0W30 in all of them, so it makes some sense for me to buy in bulk (I just need to figure out where to store the drums and get past that initial sticker shock).

AMSoil does carry your 5W20

If you were so inclined to change brands...

YMMV

I buy Amsoil's 2- Cycle oil for our sleds in the 16 Gal Keg. It isn't too cumbersome to store. Just remember it will be heavy.

Through the years I've gone from buying boxes of quarts to buying the gallon jugs to buying the five gallon pails. I think that is about as large as I want to go, even with the diesel truck and equipment...

We currently buy Shell Rotella in 55 gal. drums from Sam's. They are even cheaper than the regional distributor we previously purchased from. Bear in mind we are feeding a semi, 2 diesel pickups, at least two diesel tractors, occasionally more are on line, and depending on the season swathers, combines, etc. The cost has just about doubled over the past couple of years and it's a big pill to swallow now. I seem to recall they had some Mobil oil as well.
