OK, so the wife and I are under contract on a house, and hopefully will have the home next month. It has plenty of acreage, so I wanna build a garage/office in the back of the property. I'm curious what kind of expenses I'm looking at for the building itself. I'll probably do a pole building on a slab, I can handle most of the electric, drywall and what-not myself, but have no clue on the cost of materials on a building like that. Are there any websites with building material prices and not just e-mail for quote? I don't need a final answer, just a nice guestimate. Thanks.

Oh, it'll be a large building, as it'll house my in-home video production business, as well as my (future) collection of automobiles and tools. Not sure on total size, could be about anything at this point.

Go to your local 84 Lumber. They have plans for pole buildings. I built a one that is 38'x24. Steel roof T1-11 siding. 2- 9x7 garage doors, 1-36" man door. I have one more bay 14'x24' of concrete to pour. I ran telephone, cable and power to it from the main garage about 20' away. I have done all the work myself including the concrete and when its finished being shelled (no insulation or drywall) I'll be at about $5,000.00. Good luck, make alot of drawings and sketches before you break ground.

I paid $3,800 for my 30' x 30' Slab. About $9,000 more on The lumber, Tin, and Trusses.
About $1,900 for the 18' x 10' Overhead door, Insulation, Wiring, and DryWAll. Did all the work , except the Slab, mySelf .
