I have purchased a lot ( tools, electronics) from Amazon over the years. I have never had a problem. Normally the shipping is fast and the packaging first rate.

I've bought lots of stuff from food to tools to laundry soap from Amazon and have been very pleased with few problems. What you do want to watch for, is if the item is not sold by Amazon or fulfilled by Amazon, then your experiences may vary.

Last year for Christmas my inlaws bought me an SK 1/2" breaker bar. They delivered a 3/8" extension instead. Return went ok, no complaints.

My only complaint is that lately, Amazon has been shipping with USPS, which *****. It's slow, and USPS has their head up their ***, at least up here in the north east. I'm still waiting for a package that was shipped 10 days ago, and based on the tracking, it went from MA, to CT, to NH, then finally to my local post office in VT, then suddenly wound up back in MA, then CT and NH again, and is apparently in-route to my local post office again.

Back when Amazon shipped with Fed Ex, I had no complaints. :)

Yep. Same here with the good experience. I'm a Prime member so they have overnight shipping for only $3.99 on any Prime eligible products. I love ordering stuff in the morning and receiving it the next day when I get home from work :D No tax in Ca too.

Their free shipping can be pretty slow. Hope they don't use that carrier Prestige to ship your stuff, those guys from what I can tell are just independent contractors with a minivan. They're the only ones I've had a problem with. I was getting enough stuff from Amazon that I bought the Prime too. That makes it convenient to be able to just order what's needed without having to make say 3 different stops to different stores and hope they have what you need in stock. Plus many items are simply not available in most retail stores.

I have bought everything from dog food to electronics from Amazon. Never had a problem if there ever was a need to return or exchange. In fact once I got the new item before I had a chance to send back to return. They pay shipping both ways also. Their customer service in out standing.

:scared:

Geez Farmer, don't say that too loud... You ARE supposed to claim it on your California State income tax return. :shocking:

Free shipping for those orders that qualify. No sales tax. Fast delivery even with basic mail. Bought a few Blackhawk and Proto items through Amazon, and many other non-tool items. No complaints with Amazon.

Good to hear of your good experiences with Amazon. My main concern was identity theft when sending your credit card information online.

My only complaint with Amazon is they hold free shipping stuff for a couple of days before actually shipping it. I think the free shipping stuff is lowest priority to move out the door.

I have bought my fair share of tools from Amazon without an issure. They generally arrive before estimated delivery. I always go free shipping but thats because I dont mind waiting. Generally Amazon does all the price shopping for you so its damn well near impossible these days to find a better price than Amazon.

Yes I would buy tools from amazon. I have my eye on some knipex pliers among other things.

Thanks

It does seem the free Amazon shipping takes the back seat. I figure they probably have so much capacity at each warehouse for filling orders, and the paid shipping and Prime probably gets filled first, and super saver shipping is used to fill in any extra capacity to fill orders.

Good to hear of your good experiences with Amazon. My main concern was identity theft when sending your credit card information online.

You're not going to get identity theft from using a credit card online. They would need additional information about you like SS#, driver license #, etc., all of which they can get, but not just from using your credit card. Yes credit card # theft does occur, either by hacking, or just by using it at a regular store. But credit card co's are pretty good about detecting fraud and normally you don't pay for any fraud purchases anyway.

That used to concern me too, until I worked in Retail. Trust me, your credit card number is much safer online than it is in the hands of a minimum wage clerk behind the counter at your local store.

Been using them since they mostly sold books. If I can't get it local, I go there. I think they are the gold standard for on-line shopping.

We were ordering 204 count cases of diapers regularly, so I opted for the Prime membership. It was basically what the shipping on my tablesaw was going to cost, so a no brainer. I order everything from nails, power tools, and my 6' level to canisters of Nestle Quik. With Prime 2 day shiping, it is just as cheap as Sam's, but I can order it from anywhere and it is delivered. Most of my stuff comes UPS or Fed-ex depending on what it is.

I buy the majority of new tool purchases and consumables, most of my reef tank supplies, a lot of household supplies, books, DVD's, etc. and my wife has even bought major high end work out equipment through them.

Never once had a hassle other than slow shipping when we opted for Free shipping.

YMMV on this one, of course.

Amazon is the only place I've ever bought tools from that actually has super good prices now and again. You have to continuously browse through their stuff to catch the deals. Maybe eBay is the other place that I've run into some bargains, but those seem few and far between anymore.

None of these other places online, Cripes, Chads, Harry Epstein, wihatools, etc. have very good prices compared to Amazon. Chads (and Nepros.net) and the like at least have exotica if you feel like spending the money.

My favorite place to buy tools (and anything for that matter). I will even pay an extra few bucks for Amazon, knowing that I will have top notch customer service backing my purchase.

I have never experienced slow shipping with my Prime acct. Everything arrives 1-2 business days later if ordered before 6PM.

Very satisfied buying all sorts of stuff from Amazon. Tools, music, movies, electronics, shop supplies, you name it. A good part of the items come from third parties (Amazon fulfilled the order), and so far I have been quite satisfied. I pay close attention to third party supplier ratings, which helps. In some cases, like when Acme Tool recently became a third party vendor on Amazon, I purchased knowing the reputation of the company in the past since insufficient ratings had accumulated.

I generally don't buy stuff I need yesterday, so I use the standard, usually free shipping options. A recent Bosch order shipped the next day and arrived at the house the following day despite selecting the "free" option. Stuff coming from across the country will of course take longer. It appears Amazon has a distribution center practically in my back yard now.

If your a Prime member it's awesome. 2 day shipping for free. Sometimes things show up next day instead of 2 days.

I've bought tools thru Amazon before, among them Wright, PB Swiss, Channellock, Knipex, Wiha even some Wera. No issues so far. I typically only buy the stuff fulfilled by Amazon and try to avoid the third-party sellers, too many of them seem to jerk you around with regards to what is truly in stock. That and some of them have ridiculous shipping prices and take forever to ship. These days I can find almost anything I want "fulfilled by Amazon" so that's what I go for, even at slightly increased cost.

I buy MOST of my stuff from Amazon. Tools, electronics, etc. Excellent to deal with. No hassle returns if necessary - even prints out a paid return label.

I buy truck loads of gear from them, for home, and for work.

No crowds, no hassles, great prices, fast shipping, what's not to love? Ooooh, I think I hear the UPS truck... gotta go!

I buy a lot of stuff from Amazon... most of the time Ebay sellers don't even come close to the prices. I always get the free shipping when available. Usually takes about a week to get my order. I'm not in a hurry, free is for me.

Overall I've had very good experiences with Amazon and tools - with one exception that they promptly corrected - twice.

I ordered a two piece GW roto-head ratchet set, on sale, for a great price from Amazon directly - not third party. It arrived with the 1/4" missing from the card; clearly torn out. I sent them a photo and within minutes they confirmed a re-shipment and sent me a return label. No problem. The second set arrived the next day - with the same part missing. I’m guessing that someone in the warehouse/picking/packing was going home with a few extra tools each day!

The Customer Service in each instance was second to none and I think that my experience was a very low probability exception.

Great experiences with Amazon here as well. However, I have found the same tools cheaper thru toolsdelivered and toolking, etc. I recently bought a vice from CPO outlet for $75 cheaper than the Amazon price and free shipping too. It pays to take a minute or two before hitting the "1 click..."button.
