i don't post much on here mostly just look and drool. but i have a little project on my hands and this place is a wealth of knowledge so i figured it would be the place to start.

i have been needing to get a compressor since i moved to my new home as the gear head i sold my old house to just had to have the old C-H USA made cast iron series that was plumbed into my old garage. i couldn't say no as he was paying full asking price and ready to buy.

but i can't bring myself to pay new prices for mostly Chinese junk. so i have been looking intently on craigslist and other sites for a good deal on a small USA unit for airing up tires and blowing off mowers and the like.

picked this thing up for a song and i want to make it whole again but am running into problems finding parts. some online places have some stuff but nothing for this exact model number and no one has a head it seems. C-H website *****, so i figured the good people of this board could help.

as you can see from the pictures it needs some love but it had oil in it and makes pressure. obviously it leaks air out the side of the head when running which makes it noisy, but once up to PSI it holds air. so am i stuck welding on this head which i have no problem doing or is there somewhere to get one and i am just not looking in the right place?

are you just looking for a head? someone on here may have a junk pump they can get you one from, I know I've scrapped and sold several as they are rarely worth fixing, but you could probably just weld it (Got rid of my last one so I don't have one for ya-sorry).

for the gasket, I've never bought one, always just gooped more permatex #2 on the old one or make one out of soft aluminum (beer cans have been known to make good head gasket material in my experience).

yes i think i want to buy a head for it. i am a welder by trade and i could weld up the broken parts but its cast/pot metal and i knows its going to A. look like **** and B. may not hold up in the long run.

i am going to disassemble it and see what the valves look like and as far as gaskets go i think they may still be available but all the on-line parts house don't list my exact model number just the "series". i can get gasket material from an auto parts store i guess or permatex as you said.

Call All Air Compressor Mechanical and Engineering in Sun Valley, Cal. They have a "salvage yard" of air compressors and might be able to help you. Ask for John. Here's their website. Don't email them, just call. 818-579-4793. Try to talk to John. Jim is the owner but John is the mechanic and is more helpful.

My mom worked at the factory were they made them compressors , i remember my dad getting that same compressor at cost , it was plumbed into house basement and garge for 28 years , sure was a good little compressor!

lots of sandblasting and painting with it.
