was at sears today and saw the prybar sets at 1/2 off
19.99 instead of 39.99
it may be c-man but 20.00for a set of prybars is a deal
i may just go back and get a set for the garage

Hmm that's weird. Where are you at? I was looking at those at my local store and they were still full price.

...oops nevermind I see the deal online... thanks for the deal notice I was looking for a set like this :)

If they are the traditional Red handled ones, they are Mayhew and real nice stuff.
I've been abusing several sizes for a decade or more and they handle it.

These go on sale all the time; not bad pry bars but they tend to flex compared to the higher end brands....

Billy,
I don't disagree but I think the fact that these are what 1/2"? square stock (I don't have them handy) and many of the truck brands have gone to 5/8"or bigger might be the main difference in that for the most part.
Mayhew (and Craftsman) Dominator series are 5/8" & 3/4" so of course a step up in rigidity with an equal downside in extra weight.
I've gotten along with them pretty well doing some pretty HD work but then again, my Wilton 645 has done me well fer 25 years too.
Maybe I'm not the abuser I should be :)

These go on sale all the time. I have a set from about 5 years ago and they have held up great for me. I"m not an everyday wrench turner but for the work I do in my home garage they are great.

They are a nice set I use them when needed and also have larger ones when needed but you can't beat the price when it's 39. but when its 19.99 whats to think about thats a gift.

Same here. bought about 4 years ago. I think the 3 peice set is a black friday regular for around $20. I am happy with them.

When 50%; thats probably the price you would pay for Chinese or Taiwan, without a doubt a great deal and a classic price leader.... that Sears uses to get you in the door! :) Definitely, a classic example of a Sears Craftsman tool that is made in USA and is a great deal! :) I do have 1 Snap-On pry bar and the thickness of the bar; seems to eliminate the flexing and is rigid! This can make a difference when working with stuff but there is no question, this is one of the great deals in the Craftsman line and its made in usa; lets hope it stays that way! :)

I'll take craftsman at $20... or $18 in this case since its 10% off tools too... over waiting for HF to have theirs on sale for $8 but to each his own...

I've got them for home, the HF for the truck box, and Snap on for work. If i hadn't bought the Snap on first i would have just picked up two pairs of the Craftsman, and saved a $100.

I don't think Mayhew is the OEM for Snap-On (I could be wrong) but Mayhew I pretty darn sure is for the Craftsman line...

I bought a set of these a year or 2 ago and they do pretty well. I mainly use them when I am doing drive belts, Ima check if they have this in stock tomorrow and maybe grab another set for my house if they do.

I should probably grab these. I bought the HF set and am not totally pleased with them. Dropped one and part of the handle broke off.. Pretty much a joke.

I don't blame anyone wanting the best when it comes to pry bars. Don't want something with that much force under it snapping or springing all that torque back at you.

I just use regular crow bars when possible. No real flex in those.

All my local stores are sold out too, I'm SOL.

You can order them online for the sales price.. and something I found out this weekend when buying some Hansen socket trays that are on sale.. if you order online while in the store shipping is free and you can have the item shipped to your home address.

How did you order online while in the store and get free shipping? All the stores around me are sold out i dont want to pay the shipping to my house it kills the deal for me

I had the salesman look it up at one of their kiosk and I ordered it.. when placing the order it gave me an option where I wanted the item shipped.. shipping was free (saved about $6)

this is another one of those many times where I can't figure out sears' business strategy. I have 5 stores within 30 miles of me and none of them show to have this in stock. I realize you can't stock everything, but pry bars seem like a pretty basic item, as compared to some of the giant sockets I've seen that they've probably had sitting around for a decade. OTOH, maybe it IS pure genius to run a 50% off sale and not actually have the item.

In my store; the OHC (on hand count) was usually a couple and the allocation about four; so, it doesn't take much to sell them out! During the christmas season they should be getting a bigger allocation for the upcoming black friday sales, however! Order online and there are some free shipping codes or go in the store kiosk for free shipping as well!

Out of stock in any store remotely close to me, so I ordered a few sets online to offset shipping cost and make it worthwhile.$80 something for 4 sets isn't bad at all! I'll keep two sets for myself and gift two for Christmas.

you can walk into your store and they will order it for you, no shipping charge. Very simple. Kinda pointless to whine about inventory when you can do that unless you needed pry bars right away.
