Thanks for all the replies. Fedwrench, that's what I'm talking about. The front mount is a dogbone, and a guy I know who restores cars told me to take it off, pull the engine forward with a pry bar (i guess bracing it against the rear of the engine bay?), and then put it back on in a lower position. He said that's how to get the engine into the service position to replace the rear plugs and wires. Delray, I looked at that set, and to buy the other two bars individually later would only cost me 5 dollars more than buying the whole set now, because of the sale on the 3-piece.
The gooseneck bars look pretty promising, especially at 10 dollars. Maybe I'll just buy one of those, pry bars aren't something I find myself needing very often, but I'm sure if I buy them, I'll find tons of uses not imagined before. I was thinking about just buying the 36" one, it's only 25 dollars, and I'm fairly certain it would do the trick. I was just worried about the 25 inch one not having enough length to do the job, but the engine is like 3 inches from the firewall, so it probably would.
One of my other buddies told me that I could just use a piece of steel pipe. You guys think that's acceptable, or would I risk breaking something with an object that thick (i could get the 1.5" dia pipes at HD)?
