Now onto the garage door framing…. The wood is rotten on the jack and king studs on either side of the 15’8” opening. I’m thinking to replace both studs on both sides, but it doesn’t look that easy. The jack stud 2”x6” is easily to replace, probably in cedar. I can cut the nails that hold in the king stud for removal, but there is not much room to swing a hammer or get a nail gun in to nail in a replacement king stud. I have 8” clearance on one side and less on the other to hammer in nails for the king stud to the 4”x11”x16’ header. Does this mean I have to take the header all the way down, frame it on the floor and lift it back up with the king stud already attached? I don’t think I can just cut the bottom 6” off the king stud and replace? I also have the option of shortening the width of the garage door opening. That would let me add more Jack studs, but I’m still left with the king stud on the ends with no easy access. And I will need to adjust height on the bottom plate since if I bring the studs in, the cement drops down about 1/2 as a door sill.

Can't you just go through the side of the header into a new king stud (toenail)? Another option might be a palm nailer (check Harbor Freight). Not sure of their dimensions so it may/may not fit in your openings.

Your picture really does not show enough. Why cant you just cut off the bottom 12" of the stud and replace it ??? Then just sister on a 3 ft or so piece of 2x4 to join it together ? Jack up the header with a pc of 4x4 cut slightly long while you do the work.

Okay, ya I could toe in from the side of the header. I wasn't sure about cutting off the bottom of the stud though in terms of stability. Maybe notch it along with another 2x4.

You could brace the header with a couple 2x4's for support and just rip out the jack and king stud, add back new ones (toe nail in) and remove temp wall.

Something like in the pic below:
