Cabinet and Drawer Knobs/Handles

Finally getting my shop unpacked and sorted out since my move a couple of years ago. I have various cabinets that I would like to use but none have knobs or handles, which makes opening them tough on my arthritic hands.

Any clever ideas for using old/unused auto parts as a handle/knob?

Just a thought.

If you can shorten the stems on valves, then thread them. You will have IMHO, some awesome knobs.

Get the Lee Valley hardware catalog. Lot's of ideas and probably better to buy than make.

Thread in some eye bolts

I used 3/4 inch bolts cut and threaded for knobs

I used "made in China" sockets and wrench's for drawer and cabinet pulls on some cabinets about 7-years ago.

Knobs are crazy expensive.
I have done the valves idea, and they are easy to grab, but that steel is hard to thread.
I got the valves from curbside lawnmowers and small engine shops.
A lot of them recycle the AL but don't care if you take the valves out.

I would think the old stamped steel ball-pivot rocker arm as found in a Chevy V8 would make a neat T-handle pull if combined with a standoff. In the right place like a rebuild shop, or a race shop should be plentiful.

I've been picking up every 7/16" Craftsman wrench I find at sales and pawn shops to use for drawer pulls after seeing it here somewhere. Guy cut the ends off and used spacers to space them out like standard drawer pulls. With a major cable company in town, it seems like 7/16" are everywhere around here.

I used an old wrench I bought in a box at a garage sale. Drilled a couple of holes through it and captured it with a pair of nuts.

I've thought about using old combo wrenches as handles. Just need to drill them out and have a piece of small tubing as a spacer.

If you want to go another route, you can make knobs or handles out of woog if it fits withthe style of your shop

Knobs and hardware are expensive. When I see it on clearance I buy for future projects.
