So i just finished electrical and now it's time to decide on storage cabinets. I already have hand tool storage but cannot decide storage for power tool/ oversized tool/ specialty/ parts/ etc.

Filing cabinets are a dime a dozen at yard sales. Verticals, horizontals, etc. The two and four drawer horizontals make very good large tools storage units. I have a two drawer that I put a Craftsman Top Box on and it is very handy. All of my drills, drill bits, drivers and battery charging stuff is in this cabinet. :)

I also use a file card unit for nut and bolt storage.

Regular vertical files make great part and tool organizers. Here are two I put on casters. Putting the cabinets on casters makes it easy to clean and re-organize.

And don't forget old kitchen or bathroom vanities.
I trash picked this one, rebuilt it, painted it, added the 2 x 6 raiser and threw on a steel top. Cost me 40 bucks total...

I really like the idea of using a file cabinet for misc hardware and will more than likely look at that as an option.
I've started to make these cabinets out of some 1'X4" steel shelves I had. I plan to put them up on the wall to free up some much needed floor space. I also have 2'X4' shelving that I will also use for the larger items. Sliding doors will make it easier to fully access them while I am on a ladder. I got the idea from RSwannabe here on GJ but just added using the metal shelves vs 2X4 framing.
