Good afternoon all..

I am sure this has been discussed at length in the past, but here it goes. I just built a medium size shop/ one car garage next to my house. It is bricked on the exterior and drywall and textured on the inside. The interior is painted white with a single 4 inch black stripe on all four walls approximately 40 inches from the floor. The walls are 10 feet tall.

I am in the process of building four wood cabinets 36 in wide and 42 in tall. The wood is smooth cabinet grade plywood with poplar face frame. The doors will be a shaker style made of poplar and plywood insert.

Now that I gave you all a bit of history, I am at a loss for the colors. I have a Craftsman Tool chest/cabinet and a couple of Craftsman standing shelves. Since there are several Craftsman items in the shop, I have thought about sticking to that color scheme. My original plan was to paint the cabinet boxes red and the doors black. Instead of having a wood insert in the shaker style door, I thought about a thin sheet of aluminum or stainless steel. Cost, weight, and the inability to cut metal has eliminated the use of metal.

I found a product call Thomas Liquid Stainless Steel on the internet today. I am thinking of making a regular shaker style door and painting the insert with the stainless steel paint.

Has anyone else heard of the this product and/or used it? What do you guys think of the color scheme in general? I know it is very subjective, but please ring in..

Thanks..

Hello -

How about all black with stainless handles, you do include some red as well. Another idea would be to find some "Craftsman" decals and attach those to match/accent your other tools/chests.

Well - back to the grind - I am staining my tongue and groove walls and ceiling today - this is turning in to a big job. Almost done with the first coat, need to go back and do light second coat.
