I have been using the cabinets in my shop for a few years without any hardware.. Just could not find any "off the shelf" ones I liked. Everything looked to "kitcheny".

Just started working on my homemade cabinet hardware....

I think it fits the "garage" motif?

IMO, the cabinets still look kitcheny for a garage, but it still looks good!

I have to agree a bit with you on that as well. I design custom cabinetry for a living and have always liked cherry wood. The corner cabinet, with the glass door, started the whole thing. It was on a job and was replaced because of some small damage. So when it came time to do the shop, that was the starting point. That cabinet worked perfectly for my stereo system, plus a good spot for the TV.

So everything else was designed around that cabinet.

Gary, did you plasma cut the Bowties?

I like the spark plugs, they're different. How about some more pics of how they are made ?

I used 3/16" threaded rod couplings for the standoffs and mig welded them to the side of the spark plug base. Then I used #10 finish washers at the base of the stand off to help keep it from rotating. I think the washer also gives a bit more substance and looks better then the bare coupling against the wood.

I started working on the drawer pulls over the weekend. I wasnt sure how to mount the plugs on the drawers. I didnt like the way a single plug looked on a drawer. After a little more experimenting, I screwed two plugs "head to head" to each other. The plugs I used have screw on tips.
(sorry about poor pic quality)

So , now I have two stand offs to weld. I made an angle iron jig to bolt the twin stand offs on to keep them an equal distance apart.

I then mig welded the plugs to the standoffs.

Using the drill jig ..

Final hardware on a stack of drawers ...

I'm about half done, now, I just need a few more "spare minutes" to make the rest of the hardware....:)
