Cabinet height above workbench?

So, for those of you with cabinets directly over your work surfaces, what height seems to work for you?

I’d like to start mocking up some cabinets to see what will work but thought I’d see what has already been done.

In a kitchen the standard is 18", not sure if that would be any different for a workbench. Might be a good place to get an idea of what it would be like.

What do you plan on doing in terms of work on the bench? Do you need height?

Mine are 72” from the ground to the bottom of them, 36” from my bench. They are high. Very high. And I’m fairly short, 5’7”, but for me they are purely storage of motorcycle parts. I use a small step ladder to reach them. They serve my purpose where they are, but everyone is different.

It depends in how tall you are, how long your arms are and how deep your bench is. I have uppers above a bench that's 33" deep. I stood in front of the bench with a tape measure set at 6" and reached as high as I wanted to reach and placed a mark on the wall. I figured that mimicked reaching to the middle of a 12" deep upper cabinet. I placed the cabinets so I could easily reach all the contents of the second shelf inside my cabinets. The top shelf requires a stool.

Just revamped my garage. I'm 5'6" and my cabinets are 67" from the floor, 30" from the bench. I organized everything so that the least-used items would be stacked the highest. But if I had to do it again, I'd lower the cabinets to around 63".

Oh, and by the way; 5'7" isn't "fairly short". Anything more is freakishly tall

I built these for the old shop but they are 15 inches above the bench which is 34 inches deep. The higher spot is 22 inches and is where the light is. I keep larger stuff on the top shelf and can reach it from the floor but if I need to get up there I use a stool and just stand on the bench.
