Cabinet Mounting Suggestion For Tool Box

Any suggestions on mounting this cabinet to the side of a tool box? I know most tool box lockers come with a bracket that attaches to the tool box lip.

I was thinking maybe putting a couple casters on bottom and attaching it to the handle mounts since I don’t have the bracket.

Thanks!

I built a base that my box and cabinet fit on but sounds like you plan could work fine too.

The bracket is just an offset piece of steel sheet, riveted to the side of the cabinet. Why wouldn't you just have a sheet metal shop make one up, or just rivet a strip of steel on with some washers or another strip of steel as a spacer? Run to Ace hardware, buy the strip of steel, drill a few rivet holes, rivet it on, paint it if desired, and hang the cabinet. Probably 2 hours start to finish with the trip to the store. Make it 4 to 6 hours if you do a quick prep and paint on the cabinet.

Having them make a bracket seems like the best idea. The side of my box I’m mounting it to has no holes in it for rivets or bolts. That’s why I had considered casters.

Thanks for the tip.

I put a small file cabinet type on my old work box. I took 16 gauge sheet and bent a lip on one edge buy hammering it over a 1/4” plate. Then I riveted it to the cabinet. Two of those and it would sit on the lip of my bottom box. I put felt pads towards the bottom to space out the cabinet and not scratch the box. I’ll take some pictures when I get home.

Adding a sheet metal bracket sounds like a better option. If you can't make one, a sheet metal shop would charge almost nothing for just a single crease.
